London Fashion Weekend 2016: Catwalks + #LookOfTheDay

The past weekend London, the fashion capital of the world, was buzzing and I made it my mission not to miss a chance to be part of it. Last year, I headed over to London Fashion Weekend 2015 for the House of Holland catwalk and we left feeling inspired by all trends we saw and all the shopping we did. This year, we attended both Spring/Summer 2016 catwalks; designer and trends, and everything looked so amazing that I would have no problem in wearing everything right from the catwalk. The day started early and had tons of fashion inspiration in store for us.

Designer Catwalk: Temperley London

To be honest at first I was more excited for the trend catwalk  that would later follow but I was honestly left rather impressed with how beautiful everything from the Temperley London collection looked. Alice, the designer, made the spring/summer collection wearable enough; the main highlights in my opinion were the bohemian airy dresses, loose cut pants and various prints that exuded a Mediterranean vibe and were simply summer chic. To complete every look, models sported lace up sandals which were big last summer but will be back strong this year once again and hats with their hair tied back, trend alert spotted?

Trend Catwalk: 4 Spring/Summer 2016 Trends

Bootanicals are back and were all over the catwalk. It's a given that florals pretty much go hand in hand with spring/summer (and to be honest I have no problem wearing flowers through autumn and winter too, see here) but this year they are bigger than ever. Patterned tops and bottoms made their way down the catwalk graciously and got me in the mood of adding a bit of English countryside into my Spring wardrobe pronto.

Americana, inspired by North America style as the name suggests, will be hot this season! Red, white and blue stripes as well as varsity jackets, sparkles and a country vibe are safe bets when trying out this trend. In short, the bolder the cut the better! The catwalk saw a lot of fringes, leather and denim; 3 of my favourite things for spring/summer.

I made it my mission to wear more colour this year so I was glad to see Pop Art come up too. Clearly, the concept here was bright and bold colours. It's true what they say, colour is the new black and avoiding clashing colours is a thing to be left in the past. I personally can't wait to give this trend a try and mix a few colours I wouldn't dare of putting together before.

And finally, New Romance which can be defined in 3 words, lots of lace. This last trend was an absolute dream to watch on the catwalk, the designs were delicate and feminine but not too girly, and illustrated pure elegance. All looks were great for warm-weather and softer shades and sexy cuts are what I will be looking for to make this trend work.

Dungarees: New Look (here) // Ankle Boots: New Look (old) // Handbag: Michael Kors
For the day I chose a comfortable yet stylish look and as soon as I saw these dungarees I knew they were perfect. The air was chilly so I paired them with a grey turtle-neck and boots (with extra thick socks) to keep me warm. I didn't think much of the bag I was taking, all I wanted was something I could fit my camera in and this MK one did the job exceptionally well. I have more shots from the weekend on my instagram (@pamella_scalfi) so make sure you follow me there too!

Goodie Bag
This wraps up this super long post, so if you made it to the end give yourself a pat on the back! I hope you liked seeing the latest S/S 2016 trends and collections and let me know below which trend is your favourite!

Thanks for reading beauties and wishing everyone a nice week ahead!

10 Cringe-Worth Make-Up Crimes We ALL Committed in Our Teen Years

Oh my word, anybody else felt like this week dragged on for sooo long?! This is why I am very glad to say Happy Friday! The weather has been pretty good here in the UK these past few days, and by good I mean sunny but freezing - I will take sunny over raining any day. And with the good weather in mind, and the fact that Friday has finally arrived (thank you Jesus) I wanted today's post to be different and a little more fun. I had lots of fun putting together Beauty Things I am Terrible At and you guys seem to have enjoyed it a lot too, so here's a sequel. This time I'm referring to those beauty trends aka beauty crimes we all committed in the early 2000's. Needless to say, they really weren't our finest moments but we have moved past them (she said hopefully) and now we can all laugh about it.

1. Wrong Foundation Shade

Who's guilty of this one? *slowly raises hand*. I remember my mum having a go at me because I wouldn't let her help me pick the correct shade which meant going for an awful shade of foundation that either made my face two shades darker than my neck (for that Essex fake tan look) or as pale as a ghost. Often, people compared me to snow white so you can only imagine how bad it was.

2. GlitterEverywhere

Surely I can't be the only one who used glitter in basically everything! I'm talking about glittery eyeshadow for daytime and glittery lip gloss, glitter body lotion and body mist, glitter blush and bronzer and best of all glitter nail polish that one could simply NOT remove no matter how much acetone one used. I really thought I was right on trend but now that I look back at high school pictures (which are all safely put away) I ask myself, what the hell was I thinking!

3. Racoon Eyeliner

I went through a dark phase in my early teens and eyeliner was a must to complete my edgy look. Once again, mum would complain about how horrendous those dark rings looked around my eyes, but I was rebelling and I thought I looked cool no matter what. Traumatised by later realising how stupid I looked, eyeliner nowadays is one of my least favourite make-up items. True story.

4. Overdone Fake Tan

I've talked about fake tanning before and how I am terrible at it so this isn't applicable to me per se but pretty much all girls in my Year 10 class looked like oompa loompas. Being very liberal with the fake tan and bronzer was not a good look for anybody.

5.  Too MUCH Lip Gloss

Today, I pretty much despise lip gloss and it all started during my teenage years when I used way, way too much of the stuff. Not content with one single layer, I would keep applying more and more until it felt almost unbearably sticky. Worse yet, you’d go through all the trouble only for you to end up licking it all off in an hour tops. I also had many different shades of lip glosses that at end of the day, all looked kinda the same once I put them on anyway. Waste of money and I was most certainly not "poppin'".

6. Very Long Fake Nails

I do find some nail designs pretty and if done right, very tasteful but in those days the longer your nails were, the better! Not only was it impossible to do anything with them (I could barely pick up a pen!), in a few days one would fall off so you’d end up rocking odd looking nails for days before you could get back to the salon, or you’d use some dodgy glue which meant fake nails glued on forever!

7. Lipliner WAY Darker Than Your Lipstick

Whoever thought wearing a darker liner than your lipstick looked good was seriously mistaken!  In my opinion, it is one of the ugliest make-up trends as the contrast is simply hideous. Thankfully, Kylie Jenner taught us a thing or two when it comes to lipliner.

8. Spider Leg Mascara

I didn't even realise you could apply mascara in a way that your lashes didn't end up looking like spider legs. Spider leg mascara is a result of applying way too much mascara (you see a trend here, we all applying too much of everything!) or waiting until the first coat was dry to layer more product on top. All I know is that when it came to applying mascara, it was hard enough  not to get it all over my face.

9. Partly Straightening Hair

How obsessed were we with straight hair?! Problem is nobody had the time to actually do the entire thing! So in high school I figured that if I couldn't see the back of my head in the mirror, I didn't have to straighten it  and no one would see it either. How very wrong was I!

10. Over-Plucking Eyebrows

And last but certainly not least, the biggest beauty trend gone wrong in the history of beauty! I've talked about my mini brows during teen years before and I'm sure I'm not alone.  Over plucking your eyebrows into the shape of sperms or shaving them off entirely and drawing new ones on was not a good look. Mine have somewhat recovered and I sincerely hope yours have too.

Guilty of any of these? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties and have a nice weekend ahead!

Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Shade Liar

When it comes to lipsticks, I usually stick to what I know and that is drugstore and a little bit of MAC. But, when I ran my birthday giveaway I wanted to get something my readers would really enjoy so I of course went with Urban Decay after having tried a few lipsticks samples here and there. If you are a regular reader, you will know of my love for all things Urban Decay. Needless to say, everything I have tried from them has not let me down and I have some found some really great make-up staples I won't be letting go anytime soon (see my UD favourites here, the Gwen Stefani collection here and here). With this in mind I thought I'd get 2 lipsticks, 1 for my lucky reader (Congrats again Dani) and for myself, and I am so glad I did!

The Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipsticks (2.8g) launched in Spring 2015 with 10 permanent shades that combine the best of their usual Revolution Lipstick but in a sheer formula. Urban Decay claims every shade to be rich, creamy and give a gorgeous, high-shine finish. The formula contains their pigment infusion system, maxi lip and a blend of Shea Butter, jojoba, olive and babassu oils, as well as vitamins C and E, all put together in one bullet to make our lips more hydrated and shiny.

In theory, these may sound similar to Revlon's ColorBurst Lip butters, but they are far from it. I am huge fan of lip balm like lipsticks (see my Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine review here) but this is above your tradition tinted lip balm when it comes to pigmentation and lasting power. Unlike the traditional bullet, this lipstick isn't as pigmented, but colour payoff is rather impressive given its super creamy texture. I have worn mine comfortably for around 4-5 hours and I find that this thinner formula wears rather well for hours on end.

Now onto the shade I chose, Liar is described as a "sheer pinky-brown nude". It has a hint of rose and light shine whilst being a muted, medium brown. As I said, I can get 4-5 hours of wear and despite its extensive list of moisturising ingredients, it is little hydrating but not drying either so I can't really complain. It's similar to Pink Truffle from Revlon (which I linked above) if you like the sound of this but want a cheaper/less pigmented version.

Albeit, this is part of their spring collection, hydration is what I look for during the winter months. I've been wearing it almost every day since and I definitely see myself purchasing a few more shades. The Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipsticks retail for £15.50 which is the same as a MAC lipstick, so not too overly priced.

What do you think of the shade I picked? Let me know below!

Gym-Proof Make-Up With 7 Sweat-Proof Products

Make-up and exercise are two of those things you never really put together as they are far from a match made in heaven. Having said that, with a crazy amount of products available in the market today, all designed with game-changing and innovative formulas there is no need to exercise and not look good at the same time. If you feel comfortable in doing so without a drop of foundation, then good for you! I really wish I had the same confidence as you. But truth be told, I rarely hit the gym barefaced as I simply don’t feel comfortable in doing that and that is why I've tried my fair share of products and I can vouch for what really works. From budge-proof mascara to a very long lasting base, these make-up products I'm about to share my opinion on have been put to the test and have stayed put through sweat, tears and pretty much anything else gym related. I'm not talking about doing a full face of make-up here, but a little something here and there never hurt nobody.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation | £7.99
This foundation was fully reviewed here before and it is by far my favourite choice when exercising. It gives me full and matte coverage and doesn't look cakey or patchy after a few hours of sweating. It is waterproof and steamproof which is not only great for rainy days but also amazing for when you’re kicking butt at the gym. I find it to be a breathable foundation despite being heavy coverage.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Powder Compact | £4.99
I've used this wet as a foundation and dry on top of the Infallible foundation and together they are invincible. It sets foundation, concealer and pretty much anything else extremely well, doesn't look cakey or like I overdid it. I love how it gets rid of any shine on my t-zone and gives my skin a flawless non-makeup finish.

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Fixing Mist | £7.99
This range is really kicking ass and I promise I'm not being paid to write all this, I genuinely love this trio. The first ever finishing spray by L’Oreal is anti-melt, anti-fade and anti-crack; what more could you want?! Despite having loads of white powder chunks sprayed out the first time I used it, after shaking it well, it kept everything in its place with no creasing or fading. This is a refreshing mist that I am happy to use instead of the Urban Decay All Nighter which costs a lot more.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade | £15
Wiping out your brows is simply not possible with this little beauty. I'm sure you've heard tons about this product so I will keep it short; it’s smooth, pigmented and waterproof aka everything you need to up your brow game and make sure they stay put through sweat.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara |£7.99
It’s no secret I love this mascara, original and waterproof (and even I compared the two here). This mascara not only delivers defined and volumized lashes, it also does not clump, flake or smudge. Maybelline does not mess around when they say this stuff is waterproof, it really is not! You will need a good oil-based make-up remover to remove it completely; whether you’re going for a swim or taking a spinning class, this will be your best friend!

NickaK 24H Waterproof Eyeliner | $5.99
A newer addition to my make-up stash and I'm already loving it. The colour payoff is dramatic and intense; its waterproof formula makes it budge-proof and despite being brown, when added to my upper lash line the result is even more volumized lashes.

Jo Malone Vitamin E Lip Conditioner | £23
Air conditioning is my worst enemy when it comes to dry lips. I'm not one for wearing lipsticks to the gym, but a lip balm is essential and this is perfect! This softens, smoothes and cares for my dry lips and vitamin E helps defend them from damaging effects of the gym environment. Its price tag isn’t pretty but I find it well worth the rather expensive price for a lip balm.
