S/S 2016 Trends: The Hottest Shoes for This Season (Part 2)

Who's going shopping this Bank Holiday? I am! I've decided to ignore the fact that spring is sucking so badly at the moment and focus instead on building a capsule wardrobe by adding a few summer staples as well as trendy pieces. Speaking of spring/summer trends, Part 1 of S/S 2016 Trends: The Hottest Shoes for This Season was so popular I've decided to come back and do Part 2 because I only covered a few of the many trends already marking presence this season and I really wanted to show you a few more! Plus, it's payday today (best day of the month ever, am I right?!) and I'm kinda wanting one of each- goodbye healthy bank balance, hello "poor for the rest of the month" status. Let's go!

5 Fashion Tips I Live By (No Matter What Season)

It's inevitable, I call myself a fashion blogger and sometimes people ask me for fashion advice, yes most of the time it's from my own mother and close friends, but still. The problem with that, of course, is that I'm not qualified in any way, shape or form to be giving such advice (if you saw me during the week you'd understand why). I am far from being a fashion expert despite loving anything and everything fashion related, however everything I've learned about style along the years has been from observing trends and trying out tricks and tips that work best for me, and that could potentially work for you too. So today, I share my top 5 tips which I found out through trial and error and that work pretty much in any season, and maybe just maybe they could help you look your very best too.

The Power of Skincare & Make-Up: How To Look Wide Awake Even When You're Tired

Monday morning, ugh! Anybody else have a sleepless night last night? Definitely not a good look for anyone, especially for someone who already suffers naturally from dark circles like me. Lack of sleep and tiredness lead to dull skin and dryness, and blemishes that are not fully healed as they should be. Not to mention the eyes, the biggest sufferers! Eyes are a big giveaway of how rough your night was; dark circles, bags, puffiness, you name it- there are a LOT of things that happen to our eyes when we are tired (and I'm tired a lot). With this in mind, I set out to find a few skin and eye products that would help me fake the whole "awake look" on a Monday morning. After trying a handful of goodies, I have nailed a routine down and now I want to share them with you too. Let's go!

S/S 2016 Trends: Paperbag Waist & Lace Ups

According to Elle magazine, one of the 2016 spring fashion trends we can expect to start seeing more of this season is the PAPERBAG WAIST, in trousers and skirts. High-waisted pants have been around since last fall and whilst they are perfectly feminine and flirty, they can be sometimes hard to wear especially if you're anything like me and are trying to mask the middle part of your body. Which is why the paperbag is the fashion trend that solves this problem because instead of accentuating your waist, you can actually look up to two sizes smaller and who doesn't want that?! Trousers with this type of waist clinch the waist in, offering volume on the top and bottom whilst adding instant detail and making the simple top-and-pants look a little more especial.

Why Did I Buy That? 5 Tips To Avoid Unnecessary Beauty Purchases

This past Sunday I spent my morning going through my make-up stash and tossing out the old and the expired. Cleaning up made me realise how much make-up I have, make-up I sometimes don't even use because I simply can't get through it all. On top of that, I found some real "gems" that made me wonder what the heck was I thinking. I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to looking back on beauty purchases and thinking how much money was wasted on stuff I will probably NEVER use. I'm talking about that purple eyeshadow that looked amazing on adverts but let's face it, we are simply not bold enough to pull off that look, or that super bright red lipstick you saw on your favourite Youtuber but it actually doesn't suit you at all.

Make Me Beautiful: Next's Own-Brand Beauty Range

Back in March, Laura, Hanna and I attended the Next Beauty Event at the Ice Tank in London and it was such a fab night. The event featured Blogger and YouTuber Lydia Elise Millen who demoed a few Next beauty products and created day and night looks using their products (if you want to read more about the event itself, see Laura's post here and Hanna's here). At the end of the night we were each given a goodie bag containing their newest releases and having tried them these past few weeks, I thought I'd share my opinion on them with you guys!

S/S 2016 Trends: The Hottest Shoes for This Season

If there is anything I love more than make-up, that thing is buying a new pair of shoes (and bags, and accessories, and clothes...)! I can have one pair of jeans but with multiple pairs of shoes I can totally make the same outfit work in various different ways, and that my friends is the power of a good pair of shoes. This season, we have already been seeing lots of trends come up; it's undeniable that lace-ups are hotter than ever, as are cute sneakers (both of which I have styled recently here and here). But there are also a few other latest shoe trends making their way down catwalks all over and I thought I'd share my current favourite pairs from each trend (aka my never ending wishlist). From bold prints to block heels, move over boots and make space for cute, spring perfect shoes!

Guilty of Wearing Things Once? 5 Tips To Style Your Wardrobe in Different Ways

I'm sure I'm not alone when it comes to buying a new dress for a special event, wearing and feeling great in it but completely forgetting about it until I have a wardrobe clear out. This got me thinking and it seems that the "wear it once" trend is on the rise; are we really that terrified to be seen in the same outfit more than once? Nowadays, social media is the main culprit for the rise of this trend and being "tagged" wearing the same dress twice is even considered a faux pas. Deep down, we all know this is ridiculous – it’s a trend based on an illusion and staging, signifying nothing. Even celebs don’t toss out a designer coat or pair of jeans after its first wear!

S/S 2016 Trends: Bardot Stripes & Button-Down Denim

To this day, mum and grandma still believe that us curvier girls should not be sporting stripes because they make you look bigger than you actually are. If a year ago you told me that I would be head over heels for anything stripy, and I mean anything, I would have shrugged the comment off and called you mad. Now, tables have turned and I can’t get enough of this stuff.

L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Huile Nail Varnishes

When I shop for nail polish, I shy away from the cheap quality stuff and instead I look for great durability, colour pay-off and of course, a purse-friendly price tag. Despite not being the cheapest around, I am a massive Essie fan and if you've read my blog a few times you would have caught on that already. The average Essie polish manages to stay on for a week or so before it starts to chip away and for someone who sits on her butt typing all day long, that's pretty impressive.

5 Tips For Transitioning Your Wardrobe Into Spring

If you're anything like me, you are dying to ditch your well-worn winter coat and move on to lighter clothing options. I know I talk about the weather a lot, but what can I say, I am a hands down summer lover and if the sun is out I am instantly happy. But as I've learned, in Europe sun doesn't necessarily mean warmth and spring is much colder than I would expect. It's officially spring in the UK and I gotta say, so far so good (let's hope 2016 is a lot warmer than last year)! With spring knocking on our doors, it's time we leave the dark hues behind and bring out more colour in our outfits. Swapping my usual all-black getup for a brighter and lighter spring-appropriate palette is what I love the most about spring. But if you are not looking to splurge on a whole new wardrobe I've got a few tips for you to get ready for the seasonal change without the need of a closet overhaul, using pieces you already have and layering them up. That's right, the key is: layers, layers, layers!
