Coral Bridesmaid Outfit: What I Wore To My Brother's Wedding

You've read that right. My little brother who I swear just graduated from university has gotten married. It all happened in the beautiful (albeit too hot) town of Elvas, Portugal a couple of weeks ago. The weather forecast for the day: 38 degrees celsius, the task: to find a bridesmaid worthy outfit that wouldn't suffocate me or give me heatstroke. Glad to report it all ended well and I thought I'd share some shots from the outfit I wore and details about each piece, especially because they were all amazing finds!

Let's talk about this dress because seriously what a beaut it is. Given the coral colour the bride had chosen, I knew I wanted something that was pleated, that moved when I walked (and in all honesty, allowed for air to flow upwards and outwards) and a different neckline than anything I had ever worn. Off-shoulder was initially on the cards but hey, been there done that and it all felt a little outdated. Any sort of sleeves was a no-go given the European heatwave situation, and I've not done too well with anything strapless so a scoop neck seemed like the perfect choice. Fast forward an intense couple of months in the search for the "it" dress (after all MY brother was getting married), I found nothing that appealed to me in the UK. Bridalwear shops didn't stock many things in coral, and if by some miracle they did, they weren't to my taste. Hesitantly, I turned to online shopping despite the horror stories we hear about sizing, quality and shipping costs. Thankfully I had nothing to worry about when it came to ordering from JJ's House. I had seen this website before on Facebook and Google searches and if I'm not mistaken their stuff comes from China. But the price point was right and with the positive reviews I read, I took a chance. I'm happy to report the UK size 10 dress fit me like a glove with no need for any alterations, not even length, and it arrived in under 2 weeks (I did pay for express shipping) in perfect quality. I am so impressed with how well made the dress is and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

To accessorize the coral dress, I chose this blingy floral-detailed clutch, emerald green drop earrings (to match my husband's bow tie and my brother, who got married in a green suit) and New Look barely there block sandals (which are perfect for grass!). I went for a sleek updo hairstyle with a high wavy ponytail and an ever so slight quiff at the front to complement the look. For make-up, I asked for a warm bronze/orangey eye look and nude lip aka the perfect summer wedding combo.

Now very briefly, let's talk about the elephant in the room: I know it's been a while since I've set foot around here. A few weeks turned into a couple months and missing this place at first turned into not missing it so much, to the point where I thought "what is the point?". Lately, however, the urge to care for this space and have my thoughts shared has grown too big for me to ignore. It's true that life got in the way of blogging, and truth be told it most likely always will. Things have to give and sadly this is the first thing that gets hit. It may happen again, it may not but I'm not willing to simply turn it into a "what if". Now, after this brief and vague explanation as to why I've been completely absent from this beloved space of mine, I am back and excited to get into sharing again.
