Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine: Worth The Splurge?

A lot of people asked me about the Chanel lipstick featured in my Favourite Summer Lipsticks post a few weeks ago (read here) so here I am to show you more closely two lipsticks from the same collection that I have in my make-up bag.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 62 Monte-Carlo
I love this strawberry/watermelon colour. I'm not a fan of lipgloss (hate the sticky feeling on my lips), so when I need something more glossy and with just enough colour, this is what I reach for. Even though the colour in the package seems redder, when I put it on the colour is really soft and simple, perfect to wear for work. My lips (and I) are quite pale so this shows up pretty well, nothing too shocking though. If you have darker skin I would try darker colours instead as they may be more vibrant than this. Having said that, if you have just embarked on this adventure that is red lipsticks and still do not have the courage to walk out of the house sporting MAC's Ruby Woo for example, this is the perfect shade for you to try out and grow into.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 85 Secret
Described by Chanel as a soft shimmering pink. This shade is the perfect pinky beige with a shiny finish due to the tiny glitters in the formula. Just like the above one, this has semi-sheer colour coverage. This shade doesn't really change my natural lip colour; instead it makes my lips look fuller and more alive. I love wearing this when I am going for a nuder look. It also looks rather nice when you have bright eye make-up on and want to tone the whole thing down a little. This colour lasts a few hours on my lips, which isn't much but I don't mind because I love reapplying it and I find it beautifully hydrating.

Verdict: I don't think of these as lipsticks. I see them more as tinted lip balms because they are extremely nourishing just like a lip balm. The formula isn't as long lasting or pigmented as other lipsticks, but I love them the way they are. Yes, they aren't as pigmented as normal lippies, but they are not supposed to be. They are smooth and hydrating lip shines instead, ideal for when your lips need a little TLC and if you like that sort of thing, you won't be disappointed. Bear in mind it's Chanel we are talking about here so you're basically paying for the brand. But I personally feel like a million bucks wearing them so I think they are worth the investment. Find them here for £25 each.

Have you guys ever tried any Coco Lipshines? Let me know below!

Thanks for reading beauties!

  12. I've tried one of these in the past, a gorgeous coral shade that I keep meaning to re-purchase! Yes, the pigmentation isn't astounding but they really are so comfortable to wear and I felt so luxurious with my little Chanel bullet!
I really like the looks of that watermelon shade, just added it to my wish list!

  29. I'm not a bit fan of lipglosses either, they're sticky and uncomfortable to wear, especially if you have your hair down and the wind blows! And all of a sudden your hair is stuck to your lips! haha. I purchased similar strawberry colour from Rimmel, however they don't last that long either:(
