A lot of people asked me about the Chanel lipstick featured in my Favourite Summer Lipsticks post a few weeks ago (read here) so here I am to show you more closely two lipsticks from the same collection that I have in my make-up bag.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 62 Monte-Carlo
I love this strawberry/watermelon colour. I'm not a fan of lipgloss (hate the sticky feeling on my lips), so when I need something more glossy and with just enough colour, this is what I reach for. Even though the colour in the package seems redder, when I put it on the colour is really soft and simple, perfect to wear for work. My lips (and I) are quite pale so this shows up pretty well, nothing too shocking though. If you have darker skin I would try darker colours instead as they may be more vibrant than this. Having said that, if you have just embarked on this adventure that is red lipsticks and still do not have the courage to walk out of the house sporting MAC's Ruby Woo for example, this is the perfect shade for you to try out and grow into.
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine 85 Secret
Described by Chanel as a soft shimmering pink. This shade is the perfect pinky beige with a shiny finish due to the tiny glitters in the formula. Just like the above one, this has semi-sheer colour coverage. This shade doesn't really change my natural lip colour; instead it makes my lips look fuller and more alive. I love wearing this when I am going for a nuder look. It also looks rather nice when you have bright eye make-up on and want to tone the whole thing down a little. This colour lasts a few hours on my lips, which isn't much but I don't mind because I love reapplying it and I find it beautifully hydrating.
Verdict: I don't think of these as lipsticks. I see them more as tinted lip balms because they are extremely nourishing just like a lip balm. The formula isn't as long lasting or pigmented as other lipsticks, but I love them the way they are. Yes, they aren't as pigmented as normal lippies, but they are not supposed to be. They are smooth and hydrating lip shines instead, ideal for when your lips need a little TLC and if you like that sort of thing, you won't be disappointed. Bear in mind it's Chanel we are talking about here so you're basically paying for the brand. But I personally feel like a million bucks wearing them so I think they are worth the investment. Find them here for £25 each.
Have you guys ever tried any Coco Lipshines? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties!

Such gorgeous shades! But im not too sure whether I would pay £25 for a lippie that's not very pigmented :/

I've tried one of these in the past, a gorgeous coral shade that I keep meaning to re-purchase! Yes, the pigmentation isn't astounding but they really are so comfortable to wear and I felt so luxurious with my little Chanel bullet!
ReplyDeleteI really like the looks of that watermelon shade, just added it to my wish list!

DeletePam Scalfi♥
Love your photos! Sounds like a great moisturizing lip product, but not for me, because I like matte long lasting lips, which is pretty much the exact opposite of this lol
ReplyDeleteRachelShuchatMakeup
Haha I know how you feel Rach, I used to think like that too, but it's good to try different stuff once in a while!

They don't look very pigmented which is disappointing because it's Chanel! Ahhh, must have been very expensive too. I think I'm going to skip it, thanks <3

I'm not a bit fan of lipglosses either, they're sticky and uncomfortable to wear, especially if you have your hair down and the wind blows! And all of a sudden your hair is stuck to your lips! haha. I purchased similar strawberry colour from Rimmel, however they don't last that long either:(
ReplyDeleteKLAUDIA CLARA
I don't mind the fact that they are as long lasting as I usually like. :)
DeletePam Scalfi♥
ReplyDeleteI've never really tried any products from Chanel's beauty line. For some reason I always overlook them when I think of beauty brands. What other products would you recommend from the brand?

whatttt, You totally should! I love their highlighter too (see here Chanel Powder

oh, I've never tried these lipsticks before but the colours are gorgeous! They sound like they would be perfect for me during the summer if they aren't too vibrant as I love the laid-back look during the hotter months! x

I haven't tried them but I've definitely been thinking about getting Chanel nail polishes for a long time - sometimes you just want to have some luxury in your life! I wonder if something like the Revlon Lip Butters would be a good dupe x

Possibly...I havent tried their polishes. I tried Dior's and I didn't like it personally. See that here: Dior Polish Review

Very nice post and you choose beautiful colors of lipshines;-) But I can recomend somethig even better for lower price,I bought from Revlon Colorbust-Laquer Balm 120 and 110 and they have better cover, shiny finishing and not sticky. I paid 11euros for each one...
ReplyDeleteohhh thanks for the tip Alice :D
DeletePam Scalfi♥
These sound interesting, but for 25 pounds a tube, that's crazy expensive for a product that doesn't do what it says it's supposed to, haha. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteMay x • THE MAYDEN
But it does do what it's supposed to do?! hahaha It's a lip shine, not a lipstick ;)
DeleteThanks for the visit xx
Pam Scalfi♥
Love the colors!! I actually think its better that its like a tinted lip balm :) U can fool people into thinking your lip color is actually like that easier
ReplyDeleteBCfactor Blog
I like it the way it is :D
DeletePam Scalfi♥
I recently bought one of these lippies in the shade "Liberte" and I'm obsessed! You're right, they are more like a tinted lip balm - but they feel amazing on the lips and I love carrying around a little Chanel tube in my handbag! Thanks for sharing, x Krista
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you'd take a look at my blog if you have the time! xo

I have tried two of the more nude shades Boy and InTime and I love them. Totally agree with what you said about them being more of a tinted lip balm than a Lipstick. Those shades are stunning I will have to add them to my list to purchase. Great review Lovely :) xx
