S/S 2016 Trends: The Hottest Hairstyles for This Season

Summer is around the corner and I don't know about you but the warmer months ahead make me want to experiment with a lot of things, hairstyles included. Having long and a lot of hair is tricky and if I leave it down more than often I become a hot, sweaty mess. A simple ponytail does the trick but it also is pretty boring, so in the attempt to wear my hair in different ways this summer I chose 3 of the hottest hairstyles for this season after a good scroll on Instagram for some inspiration. Not only are these incredible simple to create, they are the fresh styles that will get us through every summer occasion and I'm talking that weekend BBQ, musical festivals, al fresco dinner date and even weddings!

PONY-BRAID

Think boho inspired with this one! This combo is one of the easiest things to do if you know how to do a simple french braid. It works on clean or dirty hair (hello bad hair days!) and you can do this on medium to long hair.
1. Start by straightening your hair. I'm using the Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styling Iron*  which I talked about a few months back. Its review can be read here.
2. Take a triangular section on the side. The size of the section will depend on your hair. I have thick hair so I took a smaller section of it.
3. The next step is to create an inside-out or dutch braid with that section and tie it with a small clear elastic. You can loosen the braid and apply some hairspray too.
4. Once you have your braid thickened up and textured grab everything, the braid and the rest of the hair, and gather into a pony, securing with s stronger elastic. My ponytail is quite low, but you can also do a high ponytail and it looks just as cool!

POWER PONY

Sky-high ponytails are back on the fashion scene for SS16, as seen on the Balmain catwalk as well as the Met Gala red carpet. No longer a school girl hairstyle, this is a chic look that works well for night occasions like an evening date or wedding. If you've got locks flowing past your shoulders, this is definitely the one hairstyle to try.
1. Prep your hair by blow-drying and straightening.
2. Bring all the hair together at the crown to form the high ponytail and secure it with an elastic.
3. Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and cover the elastic band to hide it and pin it down with bobby pins.
4. Use hairspray to hold everything in place.
5. Straighten your ponytail for the perfect finish.

HALF-UP TOPKNOT

From celebs to fashion bloggers, this is one hairstyle everyone has been trying since the end of winter, and it is not going anywhere this season. I can totally see why it's so appealing; it comes across like you've actually done something with your hair even if you haven't washed it in a few days. It works well on any hair length too, so here's how I created it.
1. It works on straight hair, but on curly hair this looks even more casual and summer-like which I love. The Irresistible Me Diamond Hair Styling Iron* not only straightens extremely well, it curls like no other!
2. Run your fingers through your curls for a more subtle and natural finish.
3. Divide your hair into two parts and bring the top half up high, securing it with a clear elastic or bobby pins.
4. Gently tug on the hair on top if you want to make it look more voluminous.
5. Twist the ponytail around the base to create the bun.
6. Secure it with a few bobby pins et voilà!

There you are! 3 straightforward and totally manageable summery hairstyles that take no more than 10 minutes each! Thoughts? Let me know below what hairstyles you are wearing this summer!

On a completely different note, thanks to Jemma from www.dorkface.co.uk for my gorgeous new logo!
What do you think?

Thanks for reading beauties and have a nice week ahead!

  10. I love all three hairstyles, Pam! I have been experimenting with braids too and have slowly trying to learn how to tie my hair because it gets so warm in the Summer. I need to try the half knot style, looks really chic on you.

  12. Love the pony braid, you are rockin' all of them so well! My hair is too short for any of this but I usually just do a light curl everyday and then tie it up in a bun/ponytail depending on what I'm working on ha. Also love the flowers in your new header, super pretty!

  13. All of these styles are lovely and really suit you. It is a shame I chopped off 2/3rds of my hair last Autumn. But I could always try these styles on my length. haha.

  36. One of the main reasons, I keep my hair short and in a shawl is because I cannot deal with my hair. It's so damn thick and frizzy, I would just keep it in braids or a bun most days. The Half-Up Topknot looks gorgeous on you! I hope you do it more <3

I did try the Power Pony and a half-up pony tail but not as often as I'd have liked. Thanks for the inspo!!
