S/S 2016 Trends: Culottes & Leather

CULOTTES have been a runaway staple for around 4 seasons now, and when they first arrived on the scene, everyone (myself included) groaned because let's be honest, we weren't ready to rock them just yet. Now, however, they seem to be in every shop and really are catching on big time. They were hot last spring but only this year I decided to be more adventurous and actually try one on. My fear was that a wide-legged culotte would make me look bigger than I am and accentuate my wider hips. But after trying on a few pairs (and ending up buying a black one of course), I learned that when done right, culottes that end somewhere below the knee and above the ankle, look far more interesting than a regular skirt. Not only do they do go with a LOT of shoes (I'm talking heels, lace-up flats and even trainers), they are great for work and play depending on the style and material you go for. Needless to say, this is yet another trend I tried and loved and I can't wait to shop around for a few more pairs and really get out of my comfort zone with these beautiful pieces. And if you aren't too sure about them just yet, here's how I styled mine; you too will want to up your culotte game this season!

And what a better way to transition into spring than by ditching the tights and going bare legs, as well getting your LEATHER JACKET out! It's officially jacket season and this is our annual window in which we can wear our favourite leather piece, allowing us to always be in style but also warm and waterproof. I chose a black one to finish the look, but whether you go for a more summery shade, the biker jacket is going to be your go-to over the coming months for a spring-appropriate look with that timeless feel.
