How very cliché of me to say this, but it is totally true: June came and went in a jiffy and I can't believe how fast the year is passing by! June was a busy month at work (especially with the whole Brexit situation and a lot of people going on holiday), blogging wise the number of posts this month fell relative to previous months but that's ok as I've been really enjoying life and sometimes that gets in the way of blogging. Weather wise, June was a bit of a strange one with the odd sunshiny day but mostly rain, and lots of it. Despite the washout start of summer, temperatures have risen and inevitably my beauty routine had to be adjusted. June consisted mainly of natural and minimal make-up looks; less was definitely more both in terms of numbers of product used and time spent doing my make-up, which really sped things up in the morning and meant being able to stay in bed for that little longer; win win right?! Here's what I reached for this past month:
BASE
For my base, my go-to option has been the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream (£9.99) which colour corrects my skin, is very lightweight and dewy (something I long for during the hotter months) and contains SPF15 saving me an extra step in the morning. I do love a heavier foundation with fuller coverage and matte finish for summer night outings (but mostly for winter), but a lighter foundation or BB/CC cream translates summer perfect skin!
For concealer, I've been really enjoying the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (£22) in shade Vanilla. I confess I wanted to re-buy the Urban Decay concealer I adore, but since my shade wasn't available I went with this instead and I'm not disappointed. Is it better than UD? No, it isn't but it's not half bad either. I covers my dark circles well and doesn't crease which is exactly what I need from a concealer. My only concern is how much of it I use every time as I find that the product doesn't spread well and unlike the UD concealer where I only need a tiny bit, this is less than a month old and almost running out. Do you have the same problem?
To seal all of the above goodness, the next product I reach for is the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder* (15). As per my review on it (read here), the thought of loose powder scared the hell out of me but its effectiveness and overall greatness has made it a firm favourite and must have in all of my make-up looks. In short, it reinforces the hold of the base without looking too unnatural or cakey and being translucent, it doesn't change the colour of the foundation which is always a plus. This contains SPF30 so I honestly cannot think of a better option for summer.
CONTOUR & HIGHLIGHT
NYX Highlight & Contour Pro Palette (£18) has every single shade I possibly need for both contouring and highlighting and whilst I do have my favourite shades and repeatedly stick to those, the palette is such great value for money, I am really pleased I picked it up. I have bronzers and highlighters to last me a few months if not years and if you want to read a more in depth review, check it out here.
EYES
I've talked about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Pomade (£15) endlessly here on the blog but that's because I have yet to find a product that will make my eyebrows look as good as they do when I use this. The pomade is smooth, pigmented and waterproof meaning it gives you everything you possibly need to up your brow game and make sure they stay put throughout the entire day, no matter what the temperature outside is.
In terms of mascara, I know my original review (see here) of the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara (£7.99) stated that this was a wet, clumpy mess but guess what, all it needed was to age a bit. I've had this for a few months now and the formula is a lot easier to work with and with one coat my lashes are already massively lengthened and volumised.
LIPS
I'm a sucker for pretty lipsticks so when I had enough points on my Boots points, I knew I wanted to get the famous Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick (£26) and I went with the shade 44 Nude Lavalliere, which is a gorgeous pinky nude shade. The formula of the lipstick is so moisturising this will not only be my go-to during winter but for summer too when my lips get sun burned and need extra TLC. Thanks to the combination of oils within the formula, hydration is spot on. It's definitely on the luxury end of the scale and I feel very fancy schmancy when I whip it out to re-apply.

This is a great post, Pam! On my side I have been using Hourglass Ambient Powder in Dim Light to set my eyeshadow primer and it makes the perfect base for other eyeshadows to blend. I've also been using L'Oreal Butterfly Sculpt mascara almost everyday.

You did very well, dear Pam, enjoy your days, life and blogging can wait a bit, but still, I have been reading more now, so I am here again :) And yes, the month flew! I loved this lipstick, YSL is always so good and I want to give it a try - I have very dry lips, even Dior produces allergy, so I have to test lipsticks, knowing that some that I love the color, will likely be ditched :( But I want to try, hopefully it is good for me too!
