It's undeniable, even though winter isn't officially here yet, temperatures have plummet and the last glimpse of unseasonably warm weather is long gone. It's time to get warm and cosy, layer up and brace the cold weather trying to look as stylish as possible. Let's agree though unless you're willing to go half of the year wearing trousers non-stop, skirts and dresses are sometimes out of the question unless you go for a really cosy legging or 200+ denier tights, right? Think twice! I've done my research and I've got the perfect ways to ditch the tights this season and not suffer from frostbite. Don't get me wrong, tights are a godsend, but sometimes you really need to flash some skin to perfect that outfit and here's how you can do so without freezing. You're welcome ;)
1. LONG COATS
Obvious I know, but stylish, cool, edgy and most importantly warm are all adjectives and synonyms to the long coat; what's not to love about this super fashionable item?! Coats are our best friend in the winter, and with a variety of them being ever so trendy this season (see Your Complete Guide To This Season's Best (& Hottest) Coats) you are bound to find something to cover your limbs and keep warm, whilst looking incredible with no tights on!
2. OVER THE KNEE BOOTS
Over the knee boots have made a comeback and rightfully so; they were quite possibly my favourite trend from last fall. Given I went a little overboard and bought quite a decent amount of pairs last season, I can't wait to style them with dresses, skirts and bare it all. Tip: if you want a pair, make sure they have adjustable lacing to avoid them from falling down.
3. MAXI KNIT DRESSES
Knits are having a moment in fashion and I've seen quite a few dresses in this style in different stores (M&S, Matalan and Asos for example), and I'm in love! Not only do they look incredible with either trainers or ankle boots, they are sure to keep you warm under a jacket or a coat. NEED one in my wardrobe asap!
4. MIDI KNIT SKIRTS
Similar to their long knit dress aka cousin above, midi knit skirts are now a thing and I am hooked. They look amazingly comfortable and you can either dress the look up or down; the combinations are endless!
5. MOISTURISE
And last but certainly not least: moisturise! If you moisturise right before leaving the house on a specially cold day, what the moisturiser will do is trap in the moisture to the warm skin leading to you feeling less cold. When I first heard of this trick I didn't think it'd work but it really does, so every day before leaving for work I slap on some cream, even if I'm wearing trousers or tights. Try it out and let me know if it works for you too!
Tell me, are you one for ditching the tights in the winter? I'd love to know if you have any fashion advice or beauty tricks to help! On a side note: I will be back with outfit posts next week, I was really sick during the weekend and most of the week so far so no outfit photos from me.
Thanks for reading beauties and happy weekend!

Hi, dear Pam! Yes, the long coats, midi skirts and if they are together with the over the knee boots seem to be a great ideas to ditch tights! I got used to that in Germany, and people always looked at me as if I were an alien, without tights and minus temperatures, but well, I didn't feel that cold, so it was OK :) Loved the tips! Hope you have a very nice day!

Ever since I moved to UK, all I've worn are jeans, and leggings underneath my jeans. The weather is crazy! That said, I wouldn't mind trading in tights for a badass long coat! Those you picked are absolutely fab! <3

Over the knee boots are a great option but I love my minis too much to let go of tights! Besides I've always thought that tights "class up" an outfit, opaque black ones especially.

Great post. We all know the struggle of cute outfits being (somewhat) ruined by tights. I still wear them occasionally but I do always think my outfit would look ten times better without them...The midi knit skirts are looking very appealing. So chic, yet so cosy, I love it!
