Your Ultimate Boots Guide For This Winter

If you've been following me for a while now you will know how obsessed I am with boots. At the beginning of fall, I had a huge clear out which was very much in order as I could not fit one extra pair of shoes in my storage but with all the recent PR samples lately, my collection has definitely overgrown again (hey, I'm not complaining and as long as I get to wear all of them, I'm happy!). Personally, I try to avoid overly trendy pairs as I know I probably won't maximise their wear, and instead opt for pairs that go with a variety of outfits and these are the ones I want to show you today! I've featured most of these on the blog already so let's recap, shall we?!

Over-The-Knee Boots: A Trend That Isn't Going Anywhere

When I think of trends that have been particularly popular these past few fall seasons, over-the-knee boots come to mind. They were hot in 2016, and they are sticking around, stronger than ever for this chilly season, and rightfully so. Over the knee boots are undoubtedly sexy, paired with all sorts of outfits and if you've been following me for a while, you will know how much I love them. I've talked endlessly here on the blog about them, and here is yet another post. The good news is, they're so versatile this is why I keep bringing them back in all these different outfits; there is a multitude of ways on how to wear them. For this outfit, I was inspired by the fall leaves (yet again, seen this outfit here yet?), keeping the colour palette simple and neutral.

5 Ways To Ditch The Tights This Winter

It's undeniable, even though winter isn't officially here yet, temperatures have plummet and the last glimpse of unseasonably warm weather is long gone. It's time to get warm and cosy, layer up and brace the cold weather trying to look as stylish as possible. Let's agree though unless you're willing to go half of the year wearing trousers non-stop, skirts and dresses are sometimes out of the question unless you go for a really cosy legging or 200+ denier tights, right? Think twice! I've done my research and I've got the perfect ways to ditch the tights this season and not suffer from frostbite. Don't get me wrong, tights are a godsend, but sometimes you really need to flash some skin to perfect that outfit and here's how you can do so without freezing. You're welcome ;)

A/W 2015/16 Trends: Over-The-Knee-Boots

Over-The-Knee-Boots

Thigh-high footwear is back in fashion this season, and once they start appearing (quite literally everywhere) you will know the chilly season is ever nearer. They are a great way to keep warm through autumn and winter, add that extra kick to an outfit, and be right on trend. However, over-the-knee-boots have not always had the best reputation. Personally, I did not think I would ever own a pair as these can be often associated with Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman - or even Puss in Boots.

But as seen on the catwalk with the likes of Chanel, Valentino and Jimmy Choo, the OTK trend is shaping up to be the one to watch for AW15. As with any trend, choosing the right piece is a must. To avoid looking like Julia Roberts, rule out that patent leather pair and opt instead for materials such as suede or matte leather in neutrals shades of black, grey, brown and nude. This will make styling these babies a lot easier.

Styling these seems easy after a long inspiration session on Pinterest, but in real life they are a little trickier to pull. "What do I wear with these boots", I hear you asking me. The answer: proportion is the key! Keep the lower half simple and opt for oversized layering on the top half. Over-the-knee-boots work well with skirts or dresses; wear them bare legs (if the skirt isn't too short), or with opaque black tights; and over skinny jeans too. And yes, I will admit that they don’t always agree with the rest of my wardrobe and can be sometimes challenging to wear, but that does not mean you should not own a pair. They are a bold yet worthy trend and best of all, no matter your body type, if styled right these can suit everybody.

Will you be stepping up your footwear game this winter with OTK boots?
