5 Tips For Transitioning Your Wardrobe Into Spring

If you're anything like me, you are dying to ditch your well-worn winter coat and move on to lighter clothing options. I know I talk about the weather a lot, but what can I say, I am a hands down summer lover and if the sun is out I am instantly happy. But as I've learned, in Europe sun doesn't necessarily mean warmth and spring is much colder than I would expect. It's officially spring in the UK and I gotta say, so far so good (let's hope 2016 is a lot warmer than last year)! With spring knocking on our doors, it's time we leave the dark hues behind and bring out more colour in our outfits. Swapping my usual all-black getup for a brighter and lighter spring-appropriate palette is what I love the most about spring. But if you are not looking to splurge on a whole new wardrobe I've got a few tips for you to get ready for the seasonal change without the need of a closet overhaul, using pieces you already have and layering them up. That's right, the key is: layers, layers, layers!

LAYER-UP

What did I tell you? Layers are the easiest way to transition your wardrobe into spring, as they ensure you are ready to beat the April showers as well as the beautiful sunshine (sometimes in the matter of minutes in London but anywho). Layers, the motto of fashionistas everywhere, work well for spring when you go for a neutral palette and choose pieces that work well with together as well as alone, I'm talking stripy shirts, slogan t-shirts, and gilets!

LEATHER JACKETS

I recently talked about leather jackets on my latest outfit look (read Culottes & Leather here) and how they are optimal for spring making this the ideal time for us to wear them. They work well with skinny jeans, dresses, skirts; you name it. I have different ones in different colours and am always looking to add a few more shades to my collection because that is how easy these are to be styled and how they work at keeping us warm and looking stylish as!

GET A KHAKI SHIRT

Not only is the military trend hot this season, khaki goes with pretty much anything! A khaki shirt is easy to pull, looks great with various pieces in your wardrobe and yes you guessed it, it can be layered up for the ultimate spring look.

POP OF BLUSH

I recently styled a blushed coat here on the blog (see Fashion Trends: Rose Quartz & Serenity here) and it reminded me how much fun it is to wear colour rather than an all-black ensemble during spring. Being a hot colour trend this season, blushed hues give any look a feminine touch and are the perfect spring shades to bring your wardrobe up to date, whether you choose a pale pink coat or a candy floss sweater, you will be on top of the fashion game!

SWAP BOOTS FOR FLATS

Don't get me wrong, I love boots but when the sun is out all I want is to get my feet out and wear all sorts of pretty flats designs.  Lace-ups and brogues in particular, make me want to put my black leather boots away until Autumn. With numerous offerings in the high street of gorgeous designs (have you visit Asos recently? I want them all!), you too will want an injection of femininity in your outfit.

Thoughts on these tips? How do you transition into spring? Let me know what your tips and tricks are below!

Thanks for reading beauties and wishing us all a happy (and sunny) weekend ahead!

xoxo

  2. It's so funny how we decided to include almost the same (military) shirt in our post :D I'm totally with you when it comes to summer! I hate having to walk areound with a million shirt, vests and sweaters. And I agree on the leather jacket... It's so versatile... It can be casual, elegant, dressed up or down... Mine is quite battered now, so I really have to go out and splurge on a new one :) x

  34. Those lace up flats are so lovely, I've been searching for a pair like that! I also love blush, it just makes everything look so bright and light. I'm jealous you have spring weather, it was so warm here just a few days ago and then it suddenly started snowing yesterday! Canadian weather can be so misleading haha. Hope you had a wonderful weekend, sending light and love your way!
