Has anyone else bought way too many summer clothes but barely worn any of them? Good, I'm not alone! With temperatures soaring this past weekend I made sure to take my latest acquisitions out for a spin and guess what, right about now Off Shoulder items take up 80% of my wardrobe. Needless to say, I've become quite obsessed with the trend and have bought way too many different tops and dresses which I have yet to wear, such as this gorgeous little black dress from none other than Matalan, which you may know I love.
A Little Black Dress is a must, a true capsule item that works well in any season and for almost all occasions. Most of the time, when I have that "I have nothing to wear" feeling or am feeling blue and want something simple without having to think twice, a LBD is always the wisest choice. How can you go wrong with a black dress anyway? Almost impossible. By keeping the dress, aka the main item, simple allows you to go slightly crazier with accessories and shoes making the combinations endless. And despite this dress being summery, put it under a jacket, blazer or cardi and it will work just as well for the fall months ahead.
The beauty of this dress is that if I wanted to go for sandals instead that would have worked, and despite being an itsy bitsy short on me, on a day I'm feeling brave I would totally pair it with some wedges or heels too.
For this look (given I was attending a kid's birthday party) I kept the vibe young and playful with colourful accessories and trainers for comfort. Neither bag nor trainers are new on this blog and it goes without saying that I'm obsessed with both. The Italian leather bag, scored on sale at Banana Republic, made its debut here on the Americana Trend post and ever since it has been my go-to. The colour is striking and I'm loving the Gucci inspired design. Adidas Superstars have barely left my feet this season and I don't see myself letting go anytime soon.
Making its first appearance is this Zara bandana which I wore tied on my neck resembling a choker. I find that off shoulders look great paired with chokers/neck accessories and when I saw this at Zara I had to have it. You can't exactly see the details on it but it has lots of tiny little pictures of rainbows, pizza, burgers, and unicorns, aka the cutest accessory ever! Sadly I can't find it on the website but I saw it last week in stores.
