As the days go by, fall gets that little bit closer to taking over. The days aren't as long as they used to be and whilst technically autumn starts at the end of September, the high street is already stocked up on coats, knits and boots with the left bits of summer sale finally gone. Spring and summer fashion this year was fun, girly and colourful with various trends to get sucked into. My favourites include the pom pom trend, pleats and white trainers I have repeatedly worn here on the blog (see here, here, here, here, here and here - I told you there were many posts).
Even though summer is not over just yet (I'm still going on my sunny holiday so expect to see a few summery outfits coming after it and autumn technically only starts at the end of September), the sunny season saw plenty of girly details and these are continuing to be very trendy. As I mentioned pleats were amongst my favourites given how easy it was to wear a pleated skirt with either a tee on a hot day or a sweater on those chillier mornings. But fear not, as fall approaches this girly detailing trend isn't going anywhere; enter the latest feminine trend: tulle!
Tulle, primarily associated with ballerinas and princess-like party dresses, is proving to be the hottest transitional garment of this season. What's not to love; tulle is feminine, girly yet when paired right, amazingly chic. Similar to is pleated cousin, tulle works well with cool low-tops and a simple tee. At first, you may think it's too princessy just like I did, but with these tips you will be rocking a tulle skirt even if you never could see yourself in one before.
DRESS IT DOWN with a plain white or striped t-shirt. Finish the look off with trainers.
DRESS IT UP with vintage accessories and a lace top for a more feminine vibe.
PLAY WITH TEXTURES by adding a button-down shirt under a sweater and tights.
MAKE IT EDGY with a graphic tee and leather jacket.
ACHIEVE CASUALLY CHIC with a chambray shirt tucked in and statement heels and necklace.
GO FOR GLAMOUR with metallic pieces for a night out.

Whenever I see a tulle skirt, it reminds me of the intro of Sex and The City:)) All jokes aside, I like your picks and your tips were helpful. I should probably wear my tulle skirt more often, now I feel inspired.

I always wanted one of this, they're so pretty! I was seriously considering buying one on the market the other day, they had so many different colors, and even my brother approved it (he's like super serious person), but price was kinda rediculously high, so I still don't have one :/
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with those dresses with flowers and birds!!

I love this trend! And although it's extremely feminine at its core, it's incredibly versatile depending on the styling. The different style suggestions you just shared are the proof! Also, I love that you included tulle in tops because I haven't seen that quite often! :)
