Bring On the Heatwave: 5 Places In London To Visit This Weekend

Summer is nearing its end in the UK and what can we say other than it was a rather disappointing one. I'm able to count the days I was able to leave the house in nothing but a tee and some shorts and despite the longer days and more sunshine, the temperature has barely left the mid-twenties…ah well. This weekend however and towards the beginning of next week, we should be getting more summer-like weather in London at least and it's now or never! If you haven't had a bbq yet this is the time, and for someone like me who hasn't yet been to the beach this year, Brighton here I come! Mark my words; these are going to be the last few days of summer so we should most definitely make the most it. With the likes of urban beaches and rooftops, if you're planning to spend these hot upcoming days in the city there is no excuse for not doing something cool during the weekend.

1. PERGOLA ON THE ROOF

Nearest Station: Wood Lane
Price Range: £6-£13 (food)
I talked about this pop-up in a recent post of mine (read here) and in short, if a food and drinks court offering a rooftop dining experience this summer sounds like a good way to spend the warm days ahead, then this is not a place to miss! With Mediterranean vibes, a wide range of food and drinks as well as Instagram worth décor, you won't want to leave.

2. BEACH EAST AT THE OLYMPIC PARK

source
Nearest Station: Stratford
Price Range: Entry £2 (adult) and £1 (Child – 12 years and under)
The UK's largest urban beach is back after its successful debut last year, and if you want to have a little taste of Copacabana this is the place to go. With live coverage of the Olympics, a paddling pool to keep cool, funfair rides, beach bars and lots of other activities, this sounds like the perfect spot to chill and work on your tan whilst cheering for the Team GB stars.

3. DALLOWAY TERRACE
source
Nearest Station: Tottenham Court Road
Price Range: Avg £30 (per head)
Not the cheapest option but a great one if you want somewhere cosy and magical to spend a summer's evening. With an abundance of fairy lights, greenery, and comfortable seating arrangements, the outdoor space has a magic feel to it. The décor, exterior, and setting are charming, and given it is partially covered, not only will this work perfectly well this weekend for date night or a good ol' catch up with friends, you will want to come back all year round.

4. CAMDEN BEACH

source
Nearest Station: Camden Town
Price Range: Avg £15 (per head)
Presented by Virgin Holidays, this is the place to experience the best of Barbados in Camden with beach bbq and themed events. Entry is free, but to make sure you avoid the queues (which can get very long at weekends) you can book a VIP beach hut. The "beach" hosts a series of live music performances which will keep you entertained through your stay, and with the varying menu if you’re feeling peckish, "the ultimate summer destination" has it all.

5. THE ACELORMITTAL ORBIT SLIDE

source
Nearest Station: Stratford
Price Range: Entry + Slide £15 (adult) and £10 (Child – 16 years and under)
Looking for a little adventure? See all of London a beautiful panorama of the city from the UK’s tallest sculpture and "fly" down the world's longest and tallest slide. Belgian artist Carsten Höller has designed this new addition to the Olympic Park's sculpture-cum-attraction and without a doubt, you will walk away feeling dizzy, a little sick but very high on adrenaline. What's not to love?!

Got any plans for this weekend? Let me know below!
Regardless of the weather, I do hope you have a good one!

Thanks for reading beauties!
