A Winter Classic: Fur & Leather (Faux Of-Course)

The name of this post says it all, fur and leather, both faux, is a true winter classic combination. Faur fur is one of those winter trends that will always be around in one form or another. From big and fuzzy fur coats to gilets like the one I am wearing, the way is to snuggle up in faux fur to make a statement. Best yet, not only does it you keep you right on trend but also very warm (which is exactly what I need these days as it is freezing!).

"She doesn't wear fur because she is cold, she wears fur because she is glamorous." - Ken Downing

Gucci announced their pledge to go fur-free in 2018 as the material is no longer modern, and fur coats are all about synthetic materials these days, which is definitely a huge plus in fashion! Synthetic fur pieces are a fraction of the price of the real thing and they feel just as cosy, if not better, especially as you wear them with your mind at ease.

But given it's been done season after season, what is new about this trend this particular winter, I hear you asking. Firstly, the bigger your furry piece the better. As we saw at Max Mara during fashion weeks, for example, supersized looks that were almost yeti-like were very popular and I can see why, who doesn't want to leave the house wrapped around in something enormous, warm and fuzzy! To compensate the "hugeness" of how faux fur is being presented this winter, block bold colours in warm wintery tones such as brown, dark greens and reds, and very minimal printing, like this gilet of mine, are the shades to bet on. Don't discard your leopard print coat just yet as that is (and probably always will be) a trend on its own, but excessive printed faux fur has been put to the side this season and one-colour pieces are the way to rock the trend.

Similar to the last outfit I posted, here I am styling another pleather pair of pants. These are more "leather" like than the others which were in jeans form. These pants are my winter best friend and despite having them for a few years now, every winter when I pull them out of storage I fall a little bit more in love as they just look so good on and are extremely comfortable! They look good with an array of footwear styles but boots are and probably always will be my winter footwear choice. I went for my newest pair (styled previously here) and I love the contrast of the fur, leather and suede. Check out here for more inspiration on how to style these pants.

Tell me, are you a fan of faux fur and pleather too? Let me know if you wear these trends during winter!
Thanks for reading beauties and happy Monday!
