This year, the colour of summer is pink and but not just any pink; not quite a pastel pink but instead a colour that lies between saturated dusky rose and blush pink. I know what you're thinking but despite being pink, it is probably one of the easiest colours to style with anything that is already in your wardrobe. It suits all skin tones and no matter where you're off to, it is always an appropriate shade, unlike other pastels, as it shows a depth that other colours just can't reach to. Watch me wear pink with leather, grey, the bluest of denims and even other pastels; I'm ready to refresh my wardrobe with the easiest colour the season (which I will wear well into fall).
Similarly, embroidery is not going anyway time soon thanks to Gucci; it was huge last fall, it stuck around this season and come fall we're bound to see it everywhere. I'm personally a massive fan; embroidery has this influence to make anything beautiful, even the most understated garments. It effortlessly makes an outfit come to life, and it is almost an accessory to the look.
For a more elegant look, a pair of pink trousers or culottes works well, adding a minimalist touch of life to the look. These culottes are made of the softest material making it ideal for those particularly hot summer days (not that we're going to see any of those anymore). The flared cut makes it more relevant as this a trend that will not go away, and I love anything with a paperbag waistline to compliment my hourglass figure so picking up these culottes was a no-brainer (especially for the price as well). Not only am I able to wear these with pumps like I did in this look, this is incredibly versatile and look good dressed up with heels or casual with a white pair of trainers…heck, I think even my Vans would look good matched up with these. Adding to its versatility of matching footwear, I also see myself wearing these in that awkward transition from summer to autumn. They are perfectly light but imagine these with some black boots and a leather jacket? These culottes are definitely ones to keep in my wardrobe, even when I've packed away all of my summer bits.
THE EMBROIDERED MESH TOP
I had been looking for a top like this for ages, not liking anything in particular especially at the price tag most came with. I wanted a modest yet exquisite detailed flowery pattern (if that makes sense) that would add depth to the outfit, as opposed to the tired floral rose prints we've all seen around. I see the embroidery trend this season being much more refined and when I saw this t-shirt style top I knew it would match well with the culottes and the outfit I had in mind. I confess mesh isn't the easiest fabric to wear, and I'm definitely not one for only adding a bra under it…a vest top may seem conservative but with an outfit like this, it is an extra layer worth adding. All in all, this top is a great addition to a more modern and sophisticated summer look, but I definitely see myself wearing it with a pair of black jeans and boots topped with a leather jacket come fall too. See, it is all about adding pieces to my wardrobe that I can wear over and over again (unlike when I bought things just for the sake of a trend…but that's a topic for another post).
THE ACCESSORIES
My Zara slingbacks had been neglected for a while after the trend died down a little and whilst I usually would pair them with some jeans, I like the mix of nude and pink. It is a perfectly feminine and timeless pair of shoes, incredibly comfortable given its low block heel design and I'm excited now to have rekindled my love for it. On the other hand, the bag, previously styled here, is my go-to black clutch at the moment and the fringes are so great to add a touch of fun to the outfit.
Culottes: New Look (here) // Top: Boohoo (here) |
It's been a while since I've sat down to talk about an outfit post looking at photos I shot during the weekend. But here we are, I told you I'd be back soon and I am so glad I've convinced the hubby to start helping me again. It's true, we're both a little out of touch in terms of photographing, or in my case actually smiling for the photos but excuse us whilst we sort ourselves out…it's the thought that counts?
What do you think of these two trends put together? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties and have a nice week ahead!
