Welcome 2.6! 26 Things I have learned by 26

So no one told you life was gonna be this way...

This girl turned 26 yesterday and it feels like just yesterday I was 18! When people told me that after 20, time was going to fly by I did not believe them but it has been so very true. Every year goes by quicker and quicker so I always remind myself that it is a good idea to make the most of it. This past year was full of different experiences, both good and bad, which I believe made me grow as a person. I learned various different things and I wanted to share with you 26 of these today, in no particular order. Enjoying reading and I hope you like the outfit I bring you today, featuring Simply Be.

1. I cannot eat like I used when I was a teen. In the past, my body handled the craziest food combos out there, but now healthier choices are what my body craves.

2. A healthy lifestyle has never been so important! I briefly touched upon my health issues on my last post here and I have had to take much better care of myself as of lately, which means lots of vitamins, healthy eating and plenty of exercise!

3. On top of taking care of myself, I learned to take care of a whole other person. Getting married changes everything but it has been a rewarding (at times challenging and testing lol) experience.

4. I refuse to wear anything uncomfortable. I learned that I really dislike heels and extremely tight outfits. Instead, my jogging bottoms collection just keeps growing.

5. I am not ready for a baby anytime soon, no matter how often people ask me when we will have one (and they do that a LOT).

6. I am happy with my finances, in the sense that I've finally learned to save up and spend less on things that I used to spend carelessly on before. Marriage and bills do that to you.

7. I've learned to let go of friendships I knew weren't beneficial anymore.

8. Stressing less is the key. I've learned that I've got to take a lighter approach to things like stressing it's just not worth it!

9. I will forever love Disney, despite my age and no matter what people may think.

10. I do not like attending children's birthday parties nor do I have much patience with little kids.

11. Planning ahead is essential, whether it's a meal out with friends, a birthday party or even date night.

12. I like going to bed at 9pm and there is nothing wrong with that, even if it makes me a grandma.

13. I REALLY love yoga and how great it makes me feel.

14. Listening to my body has done wonders. People say that when you age it is harder to lose weight, I've actually learned that my body does not go by this rule. Instead, if I really discipline myself I can achieve anything.

15. Weekends are for sleeping, errands, cleaning, and Netflix.

16. No to loud music.

17. Family time is always precious and I have learned to make the most of it and appreciate every single moment together.

18. Skincare first, makeup second. Makeup is great for covering up and enhancing, but a good base means I need less makeup anyway.

19. Travelling with the hubby is the best! Some of my favourite memories have been while traveling, and I can't wait to be able to explore what else is out there in the great big world.

20. I really dislike gossip and I have learned to stay clear of toxic people!

21. Cleaning is my jam! And that is quite a statement considering I used to hate chores before I got married!

22. There is nothing a good hot shower and a good cry can't fix!

23. I work too hard not to deserve nice things. Splurging on me once in a while is totally ok.

24. I do not want to go back to school, even though I promised myself I'd go back for my PhD. Instead, I want to learn by living.

25. I want to own a business one day. Who knows maybe a fashion boutique, or a little cafe somewhere nice.

26. Marriage is a lot more than just loving the other person. It is about compromise, putting the other first and submission!

Dress*: Simply Be (here)

Now onto the outfit for this post. When Simply Be contacted me about featuring some of their clothing, little did I know they actually stocked pieces in my size too. I was rather surprised to see how huge their 8-10 size stock was, and whilst browsing I found this gorgeous dress in their party dresses range. On the model online the dress looked fab, and when it arrived and I tried it on it did not disappoint! This dress hugs my figure in all the right places, the material is soft and stretchy, and the shoulder detail is so in style right now. The figure flattering bodycon fit has hidden built-in control to help create a sleek silhouette and I love that, which means no need for any sort of extra tummy control garment (refer to point 4!). I know this dress will be a winner for those special occasions this year and I can already see myself wearing it during the summer for date night with the hubby as it makes me feel so dressed up with minimal effort (exactly what I am going for these days). I also love how easy it is to pair with many different footwear options; this dress is a winner all round!

Sadly, this particular style is no longer available online in my size, having ordered it a while ago around Christmas time. But I love this alternative here because if you know me you will know that anything with a cold shoulder style is so so me. I already have my eyes on a few other dresses (because a girl can never have too many) and I have also received a few other bits from them, which I will be styling in upcoming posts, so look out for those.

Thanks for reading beauties and wishing us a great week ahead!

xoxo

  1. First of all, love your outfit girl and happy birthday again!

Secondly, I agree with every point you've made apart from the one about being happy with your finances (for myself of course), because I'm still fighting for more haha. But it's good to know you're in a good place hun! I really like this post.

    Have a wonderful day!

  6. Happy belated birthday, dear Pam! And I loved your post and dress, you look super gorgeous! I buy at SimplyBe, they do have 10-12 sizes, very versatile. At first I also thought it was a plus size shop, but no. The most comfortable pair of jeans I own were bought there! I loved that you welcomed your birthday, unlike other bloggers I see. My answer to them is that if one wants to remain 20, they have to die to reach that :) It's so good to be alive and to learn and I loved your points about family and friends - yes, let go the toxic ones and dedicate precious time to family, it's priceless! I only wear comfortable items, that's really good! And about babies, yes, welcome to that... when one gets married that is the permanent question for ages. Wow, I'm discovering a lot of things about your continent, it's really phenomenal! But like you said, time flies now and soon I need to leave this paradise :( Hope you have a very beautiful day! Hugs!

  10. Happy Birthday dear Pam!! I hope you spent a lovely day with your loved ones. I adore this outfit, it's pure class! You look like a total babe. I also really enjoyed reading about the things you learned, and I actually felt identified with many of them (like all related to babies or little kids lol, and the concept of skincare first, makeup second). Have a fabulous 26, lovely!
