Pantone Colour of The Year 2018: Ultra Violet

Every year, the colour experts at the Pantone Colour Institute arrive at a colour of the year after extensive research on all possible topics you can imagine, from technology to fashion. And, if you have been a reader of mine for a while you will know I love mentioning the Pantone colours of each year; remember Rose Quartz and Serenity for 2016? How about Greenery for 2017? Baby pink and baby blue to this day, continue to be amongst my favourites shades in just about anything (currently trying to convince the hubby of getting a pink chair for the living room). I confess greenery wasn't my favourite, not exactly a colour that moves me much and apart from adding a few all-green plants to my home, it wasn't a shade I was dying to wear. This year, however, the new shade to bet on is incredibly vibrant and unlike anything I was expecting, and I'm excited!

Described as inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet, named by Pantone as the colour of the year 2018, is a dramatic and provocative shade of purple set to exude originality and visionary thinking. Purple is not a colour that instantly comes to mind and I don't have much of it in my wardrobe or around the house at the moment, but it is a shade that intrigues me and I definitely want to experience more with it. I find it to be a somewhat classic shade yet original, adding that unexpected special touch. In terms of fashion, I am betting on gorgeous lilac pastel shades for spring and summer, and for the colder months true violet hues. And if the shade is a little too intense to be worn as clothing, you cannot go wrong with accessories! In the beauty world, purple nail polish and makeup looks will be something new for me to try, but with the gorgeous palette selections and shades below I won't have trouble at all.
