When I shop for nail polish, I shy away from the cheap quality stuff and instead I look for great durability, colour pay-off and of course, a purse-friendly price tag. Despite not being the cheapest around, I am a massive Essie fan and if you've read my blog a few times you would have caught on that already. The average Essie polish manages to stay on for a week or so before it starts to chip away and for someone who sits on her butt typing all day long, that's pretty impressive.
On a recent trip to Boots I saw these L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Huile Nail Varnishes and decided to give them a try. I had used L'Oreal polishes before (more specifically the L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Nails) but they weren't my favourite as they were streaky, chipped in 2 days and for some reason after 3/4 uses the bottle would dry up. I took a chance with these ones because they were on sale (obviously), the bottles are so cute, the shades looked rather spring appropriate and most importantly they contain an oil -infused formula which aims to deliver deep, vibrant colour with a prolonged intense shine. Let's see how they turned out.
The colours I settled on are 332 Violet Vendome, 224 Rose Ballet and 664 Greige Amoureux swatched below and to be quite honest, I can't wait to get a few more shades because these cute bottles are seriously awesome. I've painted my nails with all 3 colours, and I love how easy it is to work with this formula. L'Oreal apparently spent 10 years of laboratory research on these and I've got to say well done you L'Oreal. I am particularly impressed with, not only how pretty these look, but also perform.

In terms of longevity, I am happy to report this is on par, if not better, than Essie. The polish stays on for around 7/8 days on my nails, and the colour never loses its vibrancy which is exactly what I want a nail polish to do. And with the affordable price tag, I can buy 3 of these (with the 3 for 2 offer) instead of 1 Essie, so what's not to love?
The wide rounder brush shape facilitates application and provides a non-streaky finish. The brush is amazing at covering the nail with one stroke and better yet, it doesn't pick up too much product meaning the result is a fast yet beautiful finish (not flawless because I'm quite terrible at doing my own nails). If I wanted to, I could get away with one coat, but an extra coat doesn't hurt and I find that the colour looks even more beautiful and gives a truly opaque coverage. With 22 shades to choose from and that subtle rose scent infused into the formula, these are rapidly becoming an all time favourite, and it really does take a lot for me to say this. Sorry Essie.
The L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Huile Nail Varnishes retail for £4.99 each and if you like the sound of them do make sure to take advantage of the 3 for 2 offer at Boots here.
What do you think of the shades I picked up? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties and wishing us all a happy start of the week!
