A/W 2015/16 Trends: Dungaree Pinafore Dress & 2016 Fashion Resolutions with Boohoo

If you love 90s fashion, I am sure you already have a dungaree or two in your wardrobe. Needless to say, they have been extremely popular this AW and were seen all over the catwalks at London Fashion Week as well as on big celebrities names such as Alexa Chung, Pixie Lott, Olivia Palermo, Blake Lively to only name a few. Which is why when Boohoo contacted me asking what would be the one trend I wanted to wear more of in 2016, all the voices in my head sang in unison “dungarees please” because let’s face it, making fashion resolutions is something we can actually stick to. Yes, yes I vowed to go to the gym more and stop eating chocolate every day, but fashion resolutions are much more fun and realistic.

Dungarees seem to have become a step up from the playsuit we often saw being styled over the summer, and this childhood staple has now been revivified in many different styles for the chillier season, in classic denim or in cute pinafore dresses, all of which scream retro and modern in the new-old-fashioned-way. Trying to make dungarees work and seem more fashionable than they actually are may seem a bit redundant, but they are quick and easy, not-too-formal, a tad geeky and a fun look that can be paired with almost every top you already have in your drawers- white or stripy t-shirts work well as do roll necks, off-the-shoulder or chunky knits. I chose to pair mine with a black roll-neck as well as black tights and ankle boots whilst adding a bit of colour with the gorgeous bright fuchsia bag I have in my closet. If you want to rock yours during the winter, just add a cute overcoat and you're good to go!

With 90s fashion going nowhere fast, it’s time to embrace the trends that are being awakened and have fun with them. And with regards to my 2016 Fashion Resolutions, aside from dungarees, I will also try to wear more colour (if you've been around for a while you will know I love black way too much), add more print, give flares a try, play more with hairstyles and (wish me luck for this one) wear less make-up every day. Let’s see how that last one pans out.

What do you think of the dungarees trend? Do you have any Fashion Resolutions for 2016? Let me know below!

Thanks for reading beauties and have a nice rest of the week!

My 2015 Beauty Favourites

To start things off nice and easy into 2016, a roundup of the products I loved and pretty much never put down in 2015 is a must, if not, compulsory on a beauty blog such as this one. 2015 was a year when I felt more comfortable in my own skin, discovered amazing products to enhance natural beauty and really nailed a beauty routine down. I now know what works best for my skin and what types of products I should be going for in the future. I have also had the opportunity to try many brands and realised that one brand does it all for me in pretty much all aspects (yes Urban Decay, I'm taking about you). My 2015 favourites are not only last year's favourites but also products I am pretty certain I will keep repurchasing over and over again.

Click on each product name below for full reviews here on the blog

The Benefit POREfessional Face Primer has completely changed my make-up game. It manages to hide my huge pores and provide flawless finish making it very much worth the hype if you haven't tried it yet. In my experience, it workes amazingly well prior to the Garnier Micellar Water and followed by the L'oreal Infallible Matte Foundation, which I know isn't everybody's cup of tea due to it being best suitable for combo/oily skin (ideal for me) and not working out so hot form those with dry skin. With the skin prepped, the next step would be to conceal my dark circles, an easier task said than done, but one product that comes close to tackling them effectively is the Urban Decay Naked Concealer and I have yet to find something better than this. And given 2015 was the year of contouring and strobing, my trusty Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette came in handy whenever I wanted to contour my not-so-tiny round face and highlight the cheekbones for a more polished and illuminated complexion.

Onto brows, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade is my newest best friend and I am kicking myself for not buying it sooner; it's smooth, pigmented and waterproof, everything you want in a little pot to really up your brow game. Still on the eyes, the much raved on this blog Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette and Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara both make reappearances and I'm not even sorry about talking about these repeatedly. And, whenever it came to lining my eyes, I always seemed to reach for the cheap yet amazing quality Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyelinera product I can actually work with given the lack of skills when it comes to mastering the art that is doing my eyeliner perfectly.

For the lips, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Monte Carlo was inevitably what I picked up so sort out my often dry lips whilst adding a sheer touch of red. Despite the Coco Shine collection having a lot of bad reviews out there, this lipstick is smooth, hydrating and ideal for when my lips need a little TLC. And last but certainly not least, the Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel, because bubblegum scented gels make shower time much more fun and every day seem like it's Christmas.

Albeit I omitted haircare and nailcare products from this list (L'oreal and Essie all the way if you're wondering), this list pretty much covers what I've been wearing on a daily basis. I could go on and on about each and every single one, but all you need to know is that these seriously work and provide the result I want time after time!

What are your 2015 favourites? Have you tried any of these? Let me know below!
Thank you for reading beauties and Happy 2016!

2015 Outfit Recap

As cliché as it sounds, where has 2015 gone? It seems like yesterday I started this space on the internet and here I am, still standing 107posts later! I honestly can barely believe how far this blog has come since February 2015, all thanks to you beauties!

If you've been around for a while you will know that I created it as a beauty blog, but obviously I soon realized I loved the camera and fashion too much to shy away from it. The obvious decision was to give fashion blogging a proper shot too and that was the best thing I could ever have done. My main goal has been to share my opinion on all things beauty and bring fashion that is affordable and accessible to every woman, taking into account the season’s hottest trends.

2015 has been just the beginning. Despite pamscalfi.com being less than a year old, I feel like I've been doing a good job so far. The feedback on each post and across other social platforms has been wonderful, I've been able to work with amazing brands and I've also been featured as an “Expert Blogger” here, which is one of my biggest blogging highlights so far!

Since the year is coming to an end, why not look back at all the outfit posts I've done here. That gives you a chance to read any that you have missed and you can also tell me which one was your favourite!

Tell me, which looks are your favourites? Let me know below!

What's next, I hear you asking! Without a doubt, fashion has become a huge part of me and it is definitely how I want to keep things around here. I, of course, love all things beauty too so my make-up posts won't be going anywhere so do not worry! However I see 2016 being the fashion year for pamscalfi.com and it is definitely something I want to focus more on. I want my #LookOfTheDay posts to be bigger and better and that is something I will always strive for. Goodbye 2015, hello 2016!

Thanks for reading beauties and for the continuous support!
Happy New Year and see you in a couple of days!

What I Got For Christmas 2015

Can you tell I'm still in a festive mood? I don't want to let Christmas go just yet, so to drag it out as much as I possibly can before thinking about New Years which is literally a few days away, I thought I'd share what goodies had my name under the tree this year. Yes I know, Christmas isn't all about gifts but who can say no such things? I confess I did receive these a few days before and after Christmas which is why this post may be a little late but who's counting. I honestly love every single one so I couldn't not share them.

Make-Up

Gifts I bought for myself: on a recent trip to Kiko with Georgiana from beautynerd.co.uk, I picked up the Colour Sphere Eyeshadow 05 Spicy Chocolate Special FX which I am planning on wearing on New Year's Eve as it has just enough sparkles making it more than appropriate for party season. On the same day, we simply had to pop into MAC and I of course walked out with the gorgeous Soft & Gentle Mineralize Skinfinish Highlighter I've been dreaming of for as long as I can remember. Also from MAC, mum got me the famous Flat Out Fabulous Matte Lipstick which is admittedly a more spring/summery shade but I haven't been able to stop wearing it ever since. And last but most certainly not least, the one and only Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette; daddy really knows the way to my heart!

 Body Care

Both The Night Before Christmas set from Lush and Sweet Snuggles Bathing Set were given to me by Georgiana and honestly, everything smells so wonderful and looks so pretty I just want to keep everything in its box. Am I the only one who takes forever to actually use any cute stuff?! Clearly, Lush was a popular choice for me this year, perhaps because I've been saying I want to try more of their goodies, as the Candy Mountain Bubble Bar and the Frozen Bath Bomb were also sitting under my tree. I can't wait to unwind and give these a try, they certainly smell delicious and I'm sure they will come perfectly in handy for a bit of me time.

Fashion

Hints to the boyfriend seriously work guys. I've been very nonchalantly (may I add) hinting to him that I would quite like a designer bag for my birthday, but instead he got me one for Christmas and I have fallen more in love with him and it! Michael Kors handbags are a dream and I couldn't have asked for a better one given it is not a design you see on the street every day, making it unique and thus ideal for me. And to jump head to toes - literally- onto the rose gold bandwagon, mum read my mind and got me these gorgeous Rose Gold Superga Shoes. They are so right for party season; I've been wanting these for a little while as I find them the easiest way to step up any outfit so expect to see them lots on the blog in the upcoming year.

What did you get for Christmas beauties? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading and have an awesome week ahead!

xoxo
