Hello beauties! Merry Christmas! How was everyone's Christmas? Mine was pretty traditional with lots of food, laughter and thanksgiving for the most wonderful present one could ever get (I'm talking about baby Jesus here). As per our tradition (which I explained last year here), we began celebrating Christmas on the 24th and celebrations went right up until the early hours of the 25th; it was a lot of fun and loud as you can imagine! Just like previous years, we throw a big party at church on the 24th and apart from the food which is always beyond amazing and the precious time spent with friends and family, one of my favourite aspects of the whole thing is getting to dress up! Who doesn't love dressing up a little for Christmas?! After searching countless websites for THE dress of the season (for some reason, I was really picky this year and no dresses pleased me) I went back to the place I started looking at (good old Asos) and found a dress in my size and on sale! It was meant to be mine!
Doesn't mama Scalfi look smoking hot?! |
If there is one fall/winter fashion trend I've particularly loved this year, it is velvet. I've talked about it endlessly here on the blog so of course a velvet dress just made complete sense to me. Plus, it has recently come to my attention that green is set to be a hot colour for next year as it was nominated colour of the year 2017 by Pantone so I was clearly onto something here. Christmas' true meaning is special to me and I always associate calmness, and tranquil times with it which is exactly what this shade stands for! I'm sure I will be talking about this colour a lot more in the upcoming months and it is refreshing seeing such a bold colour being picked as colour of the year!
The man I am marrying next April! Eeeeeep! |
Needless to say, I am in love with this green dress (even though I sort of matched with the Christmas tree) and I am eager to see what the fashion industry will come up with in all the pretty green tones out there; I can't wait to wear it all!
And as you can see, in terms of make-up I kept things simple with a subtle warm brown smoky eye and a nude lip from the Freedom kit I reviewed here. I wanted the dress to be the spotlight and it did just that in all its velvety glory.
