Wear It Pink: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October not only sees the beginning of fall and bring us one step closer to Christmas, it is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. October highlights a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to emphasise the importance of breast cancer awareness, education and research. Breast cancer has affected my loved ones in the past, not anyone in my actual family but friends  who are just as close, and thankfully all of them have won the battle against it! Thanks to wonderful organisations around the world, they were able to get the help they needed, not just physically but also mentally, which proves how important their work truly is for those in need in such difficult times.

This year, I decided to get involved and raise awareness in the way I know best, through blogging and more specifically through a fashion blog post which you beauties know are my favourite to create. Shireen (blog: Reflection of Sanity), Dagmara (blog: Mummy's Beauty Corner), Honia (blog: Miss Lovely Attitude) and I joined forces (because 4 bloggers are always better than just one, especially when you're talking about these amazingly talented girls) to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month and help support women with breast cancer. Our idea was pretty simple, whether you buy a brooch to show support, volunteer in any way, run or fund-raise, today whatever you do do it in pink - or shall we say Wear It Pink! The first known use of a pink ribbon in connection with breast cancer awareness was in the fall of 1991 when the Susan G. Komen Foundation handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors. Let's continue the tradition and celebrate such an important cause by wearing pink today. Whether you're going for an outfit or a pinky makeup look, we girls got you covered!

I kept the look simple, which is probably wise when going for a strong colour as pink but by all means, if you feel comfortable go all out! Jeans and t-shirt is only my favourite combination ever (comfy and cool...what's not to love?! ), so to add a touch of "oomph" to the outfit, I went for my pink leather jacket which I really don't get much wear out of but I totally will now as it looks pretty darn cool, and these studded heels I simply adore. I'm very pleased with how chic yet casual this outfit turned out and don't mind me if I turn up to work this Friday wearing the exact same thing!

There you have it! My October Pink outfit for this year, not overly pink but it's the thought that counts right?  And if you're looking for more ideas, make sure you stop by and say hello to all the lovely bloggers I worked with on this collab, tell them I sent you their way! Here are the links to their amazing posts:

And of course, don't forget to donate (suggestions of charities here, here, here); no matter the amount, you CAN make a difference and help others fight this battle! Thanks for reading beauties and Happy Friday!

xoxo

  22. Fantastic, dear Pam! Last year I wore pink the whole October and this year I did with some details, and wrote about Wear it Pink, so please, next year invite me to join forces :) If you want, of course! I am a huge believer that if we all show that breast cancer takes lives - but not, if people start treatment at early stages - we do good for everybody and for our souls as well! So, thumbs up to the campaign and you look so beautiful in pink! I loved the coat, the shoes and the striped top! You always look chic and feminine, I like your style! Wishing you a great weekend!

  25. I already told Shireen but I LOVE this! So awesome of y'all to raise awareness. My dad passed away due a different type of cancer, obviously, but I know how rough it is and I have known people who've, thankfully, survived breast cancer so the more awareness, the better!
