Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipsticks: Divine Wine 975

Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Divine Wine 975

When autumn hits my dark lipsticks come out to play. When I wore this shade (mixed with Berry Much) on my OTK outfit post, a lot of you asked me what my lipstick was. Having recently had a little shop around Boots (heaven on earth?), I spotted a new range from Maybelline; matte lipsticks! Mattes were quite popular in the summer, but with darker and vampier (is that even a word?) shades available in the market I can totally see myself rocking this and many other matte shades through fall as well.

The shade I went with is Divine Wine 975, a deep, slightly muted dark burgundy colour that is fall ready if you ask me. With reddish and brown undertones, this lipstick is very eye catching and not for the faint hearted. I wore this to church and people gave me weird looks; imagine the mix: a pale white girl dressed in all black with an intense dark wine red lipstick. I however felt pretty awesome wearing this and that is all that matters right?

Right so, going back to why we are here; this bullet offers a mostly matte finish. I say mostly because it is somehow satiny too meaning it has a creamy texture despite being matte, which is unusual for matte lipsticks. The velvety feel made it much more comfortable to wear compared to other matte lipsticks I have tried; it almost felt like a silicone primer on my lips but not quite as dense and waxy, if that makes sense.

When it comes to the formula, this offers great colour payoff. The pigmentation is tough but not totally non-transparent, and due to its creamy consistency I find that this goes on smoothly and evenly and does not pull into lip lines as the colour wears off.

Speaking of wearing off, durability is around 5 hours, more if you do not eat nor drink. As it fades away, it does stain your lips slightly and I always find the need to reapply as I do not find the stains pleasant looking.

I notice it to be neither drying nor hydrating, and as with most Maybelline lipsticks it has no taste but a sweet fragrance, which I does not bother me too much but may not be for everyone.

All in all, if you are in the market for a dark burgundy lipstick, you cannot go wrong with this one. It makes a great dupe for MAC's Diva despite being a tad darker, but for £6.99 at Boots and Superdrug, you will agree with me that it comes close enough. Like I said at the beginning, I like wearing this on top of the Berry Much crayon also from Maybelline; the result is a beautiful bold colour with both berry and reddish undertones.

Tell me, are you all up for dark vampy lip shades this fall? If so, let me know some of your favourites below!
Thanks for reading beauties and hang in there, Friday is almost here!

xoxo
