Given most of my readers are females, what better place to talk about important women stuff. We girls have periods, period. It may be embarrassing for some to openly speak about menstruation and vajayjays, but I'm not at all shy about this kind of stuff. Talking about feminine care is just as important, if not more, than beauty and fashion. Veeda have opened my eyes about how my usual pads brand could be affecting my health and this is what I've learned.
Did you know that our conventional tampons and pads from well-known brands are often made from blends of bleached cotton and/or synthetic products? Yes, nasty stuff I was not aware of either. Most products contain dioxins from the bleaching process, pesticide and herbicide residues, synthetic chemicals, artificial fragrances, and dyes. All of these “ingredients” are often not even displayed on packages because it is not something required by the law, what is up with that! As a result, all of the above can potentially increase the risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS), irritation, and allergic reactions.
This is where Veeda come in. Veeda strive to create and provide natural feminine care products that are 100% natural, bleach free and chemicals free that work just as well as our beloved brands. Having had my fair share of health problems in the downstairs area, I'm glad to find a brand that reduces the risk of reactions and irritations and one that discloses all of its ingredients proudly. And if that wasn't enough, it has been medically proven that using Veeda also reduces the risk of TSS.
Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is caused by a bacterial infection which can attack the major organs and it is often associated with conventional tampon use. You may think this is a thing of the past but current stats are: 1 in 700 girls are still bound to suffer from TSS in their lifetime as leading brands still fail to use natural ingredients only. If I can reduce the risk of being that 1 in 700, I will and Veeda products are the ones I will be choosing going forward. Made from hypo-allergenic, 100% natural cotton and nastiness free, Veeda Tampons and Towels* are the smarter choice for me.
From prices starting at only £1.85 at Boots, I am convinced and will be saying adios to my current pads brand. What do you think, will you be making the switch too? Let me know below!
Thank you for reading beauties and have a lovely weekend!
xoxo

Omg. Slightly worried now, especially since the time of the month is coming right up. I had no idea these were made out of synthetic and bleached material! I don't think I've ever given them a second thought, to be honest. Oh dear. Go Veeda for bringing awareness and making a change to this problem!

A few years ago I heard about the dangers of a bleaching chemical they were using on tampons that was super dangerous. I just think: why are we still filling our bodies with toxic substances? Food, skincare products, and even tampons are full of poisson, yet governments do nothing and we have to find products even in other countries to stay away from that. I just love this kind of brands because they have the strongest foundation of all: ethics.

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this Pam. It's scary how dangerous normal tampons can be! I can't believe how cheap they are too what a great product. I'll definitely have a look next time I'm in Boots

Wow, thanks for sharing such a relevant information about the "hidden" ingredients in tampons/towels. I'll be more careful next time I buy them. Oh! And if I happen to find this brand in my city, I'll definitely give it a try!

To be honest-- i have tried tampons just once and it feels awkward.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on how she is raised to use this kind of things.
I know in European-- they often used this.
Anyways, lovely review

Such a good review - I didn't even really think about all of the chemicals etc in feminine care - just tend to go with what you know. Will be sure to check out this brand :)

I hadn't realized that there were natural options. I always assumed it was either the usual pads and tampons or menstrual cups and reusable pads - which I don't think I'm ready to try out yet. I'll for sure keep an eye out for these!!
