Rimmel London Wake Me Up Mascara - Does It Work?

Having the day off today meant one thing, and one thing only...SHOPPING! Finally found the time go into every shop I wanted to and I, being the shopaholic and makeup-aholic that I am, obviously ended up picking up a few make-up items that I've been dying to try out. I don't know if anybody has noticed, but everywhere you look there is for sure a giant billboard featuring the new Rimmel London mascara. London is covered in propaganda for this product and it wasn't long until it caught my attention.

The reason why I mostly wanted to try this is because this mascara is enriched with vitamins (Pro Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E) and Cucumber extracts (and not because it is so pretty to look at...ok, maybe a little). It claims to make us look more awake, something I'm always after because I tend to look tired all the time! The hour-glass brush is unusual, it has wider ends and it is designed to wrap each and every lash with defined, clump-free volume for an eye awakening effect.

L-One coat R- Two coats (excuse my crazy looking eyebrow)
I wore this throughout the day and this is what I like about it:
✓ Very stylish packaging.
✓ Priced at only £7.99 (but currently £5.99 - introductory price).
✓ Lovely cucumber scent.
✓ Lashes feel soft and flexible (not crispy like with other mascaras).
✓ Long lasting.
✓ Lightweight consistency.

What I don't like...
✖ Not so great for volume.
✖ Brush design makes application tricky.
✖ Needs a couple of coatings and it can be tricky not to clump with the brush.
✖ Cooling sensation not really noticeable.

On the whole, I like this neat mascara a lot. The packaging is pretty and eye-catching and the formula has a really lovely fragrance. Application is easy-ish once you get the hang of it, but I don't like the brush shape. Having wider ends and the curve in the middle made it difficult for me to get to the roots and I ended up getting some of it on my eyelids. I personally like volume, and this needs many many coats to achieve the look I would usually go for so I will be using this as my "day time" mascara. For my more dramatic evening looks I will stick to my all time favourite Lash Sensational by Maybelline. Having said that, I did notice that it made my eyes look wider and my lashes longer so if you are looking for an affordable, natural look mascara, you can't go wrong with this one.

You can get this mascara at Boots and Superdrug alongside the rest of the "Wake Me Up" collection which includes Foundation and Concealer, both of which I have yet to try.

Tell me, have you guys tried this product/collection yet? Let me know what you think below.

Have an awesome long weekend ahead and see you beauties soon!

Strobing Like A Pro: Rimmel London Good to Glow Highlighter

Highlighter is a must for sunny days and to help you prepare for the upcoming summer, a new highlighter by Rimmel London has recently hit the stores and I am super excited to tell you why I think this is one of their best products yet!

Powder highlighters have been a favourite of mine for a long time, mostly because in the drugstore world there aren't a huge amount of liquid ones. A natural glow is something I am always going for, day or night so I am glad we are now able to get this amazing product at such a good price in our favourite drugstores. This highlighter comes in 3 different shades (001 Notting Hill Glow, 002 Piccadilly Glow and 003 Soho Glow), and they are all equally pretty; check them out here. These different shades are designed to suit all skin tones and I chose the lightest shade: 001 Notting Hill Glow. I've used this for a week or so now, and I am loving the quality, consistency and everything about this product.

This is an instant build-able highlighter with light reflecting pigments that aim to give you a radiant and luminous glow. The formula is just perfect; it has a lightweight liquid texture and even though it is very pigmented at first, when you blend it out the result is a glamorous yet subtle glow. I like applying this highlighter on my cheekbones, above my brow bone, on my nose bridge, cupid's bow and at the top of my forehead. The result is an instant touch of radiance to my look and perfect dewy skin.

I wear this on top of my foundation, but it can also be worn alone, blended with foundation for a subtle all over glow and I think if I added a few drops of it to my body cream, the result would be gorgeous looking décolleté, arms and legs, so I am definitely trying that next!

In short:
♥ Variety of shades to suit different skin tones.
♥ Lovely formula and lightweight texture.
♥ Good amount of product and a little goes a long way.
♥ Priced at only £4.99 which is a total bargain!
♥ Great dupe for Benefit's High Beam.
♥ Blends in really easily.
♥ Versatile as it can be worn in different ways.
♥ I find this product to be an all-round winner and I can't wait to add the other 2 shades to my collection!

Have you tried this yet? I would love to hear from you, so don't be shy and leave a comment below!

Happy Mother's Day to all the lovely mums out there and until next time!

Rimmel London Rita Ora Nail Polishes & Easter Nails

Easter is almost here and I am soooo excited for this long weekend we get to have here in the UK. I feel like I've been working way too much so it's nice to be able to finally let my hair down but most importantly go a bit wild and wear nice bright nail colours.

Speaking of nails, today I want to bring 2 things in one post. I want to share my opinion on the New Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine by Rita Ora polish collection and show you a fun way of wearing them for an Easter themed manicure.

Picture: Rimmel London. You can see all the colours available here

It’s not a secret to anyone that I have been faithful to Essie polishes (and Essie polishes only) for a very long time. But as soon as I saw the cover page of Stylist magazine for this week I knew I had to have them. The colours available are absolutely gorgeous and you will find yourself wanting to buy the whole range!

I love the formula of these polishes; they provide good coverage thanks to the brilliantly designed maxi brush. But what I am impressed with the most is how affordable these are and how fast they dry! Each costs £2.99 which is super cheap compared to Essie (£7.99) AND I can buy 3 (with the 3 for 2 offer at Boots) for less than the price of one Essie. I am super picky on how fast a polish dries but these have definitely won me over in that department. They claim to dry within 60 seconds, and whilst that is true when you only have one coat on, for 2 coats it did take slightly longer but that was not an issue for me. These polishes are also supposed to be chip-resistant and last for about 10 days. I will report back when I have more on this since I have only been wearing them for 2 days (no chips so far though). I got myself the following colours (starting from left to right):

Roll in the Grass 878: green, green, green! This is the only green colour in the collection and they have done it perfectly! The colour you see on the bottle is what you will get on your nails, and to me that is exactly what I wanted for my Easter nails.

Orangina 413: a cross between peach and orange. It’s darker than Peachella and lighter than Tangerine Tent from the same collection but still a perfect orange for this spring.

Go Wild Er Ness 558: a pastel lilac and in my opinion a perfect dupe for Essie Lilacism. It’s all about pastel colours nowadays and this does not fail to disappoint. It does need 2 coats to give your nails a good coverage, but it dries in no time so that shouldn't be an issue.

Neon Fest 322: My absolute favourite! I personally love bright cheerful colours and this is the perfect magenta pink! I find that this can be worn with only one coat and still look great.

Now, here is a swatch for all the colours mentioned above. My Easter Nails!

I love how fun and colourful they look. I did ask my mum if I could do her nails too but she kindly rejected the offer saying it was a bit too much for her age (I will take that as a compliment mummy). I saw this super easy design on the back cover of Stylist and tried to recreate my own version and I think it’s quite good for someone who has zero nail art skills. If I can do it, so can you! For the white flowers, I used the Konad Stamping Nail Art set and Stamping Plate M69.

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed it and I want to wish you all a wonderful Easter Holiday and remember: Jesus has risen and He is alive, THAT is the real meaning of Easter! :)

Thanks for reading once again everyone, leave a comment to tell me what you think!

xoxo
