Today's post was supposed to be about the beginning of Spring (the word that is literally music to my ears) but I decided instead to confess and write about something I've been obsessing over these past few months. I have decided that, despite getting married next year, having plans of owning a house, a new car and various other expenses married life will bring, I too will save up for a Chanel bag. Yes, you can start judging me.
When it comes to designer items, my wardrobe contains very few of them. I'm not one to usually fuss over expensive items but a Chanel bag is something I've dreamed for quite sometime (as I'm sure many other women have too) and having recently started looking for the one, I have discovered a passion for the design, the quality and basically, the entire thing.
I know what you're thinking, its price tag is quite absurd and I totally agree. It is a lot of money (price range of the ones I've seen £1800 to £2700- pre-owed) for a bag but I'm thinking of it as an investment (because prices are only going to go up as time goes by) and it will be a bag that will literally last forever. Being so, it will be passed to my daughter, granddaughter and so on; it will almost become a family tradition after all a Chanel is for life (I'm not exaggerating, am I?). Not only, will it never go out of style, if I needed to sell it one day (knock on wood), I'd probably make most of my money back. Ok, maybe these are all reasons I keep telling myself, and the future hubby, why I should buy one but let's move on.
When purchasing something so expensive, planning and patience are extremely important, as is doing your homework aka research. I have yet to find the exact design I want, the seller (I will most likely go for a second hand one), the ideal price tag and decide how to go about stripping this large sum from my bank account. It could be a few months from now, or a few years (hopefully the former rather than the latter) but I am in no rush; when the time is right and I can afford it without having to cut back on necessities I will treat myself and it will probably be the only treat I will get for years to come afterwards lol.

Thus, this post marks the beginning of my rather long Journey to Owning a Chanel Bag series, and I will update as I see fit going forward with information around this topic and my progress (I hear Chanel lovers become experts on the subject). In the meantime, I content myself with the already large handbag collection I own. Granted there are a few Chanel "inspired" here and there but can you really blame me? I honestly have no problem with inspired bags so if you too like the look of a Chanel but can't quite afford it like me just yet, check these out:
