The Heritage-Inspired Printed Coat Trend

The change of season is well and truly upon us and what I've been loving to wear the most lately are all of my autumn coats. The transition into the new season is the perfect time for that trench style, to add some leather or to opt for heritage-inspired prints. Whilst I love all three trends and have already included them in my coat selection, my favourite has to be the last. Think of all the tartan and check patterns in all sorts of beautiful colours combination; yep that's I've been wearing non-stop. The heritage trend, among a few others, is quite possibly one of the biggest for this season (perhaps it only loses to animal print?). It goes with what autumn is all about, and despite big fashion names like Balenciaga, Calvin Klein and Fendi being responsible for its latest modern update, I love how the high street has quickly caught on making adding one to our wardrobes a whole lot more affordable. Whether heritage coats come fitted or left to fly loose, this is the coat to bet on this season. Keep on reading to see how I styled mine!

Heritage-inspired prints were all over the runway this season with checked tweeds being worn in a variety of ways. I find this type of coat to be the perfect way to add a masculine edge to more feminine outfits. Granted, in my look here I've gone for a more casual vibe styling it with mom jeans and trainers (because I am all about comfort). But I can see this style working well with floral midi dresses and pleated skirts to create balance.

This particular coat is from Primark and it had been a very long time since I bought a coat from there. I usually like to spend a little more on coats in general for greater quality, especially as this trend shows no signs of waning and it'd be a coat I would be wearing autumn after autumn. But on a quick trip to get me some pair of tights (it's never just tights though is it?!) I stumbled across this coat and it was a love at first sight. I didn't expect it to be well made but upon closer inspection, I couldn't find anything wrong with it and for 30 bucks, in my basket it went without me giving it a second thought. I admit, the print is a little dad/grandpa like but I love that about it; it looks vintage yet modern at the same time if that makes sense. The fit is on the loose side and at first I thought it would make me look huge, but to be honest I don't mind if it does. It looks amazing draped over sweaters and high-neck jumpers, adding the ideal amount of edge and fashion information to the outfit, and I can't wait to try to style it with more pieces.

Needless to say, I am well pleased with it and have worn it over and over again. Fun fact, my dad is a massive fan of it but I suspect it is because it reminds him of a blazer he's got in his wardrobe which he proudly bought from a vintage shop in the US.
