The New Denim Shape To Try: Flared Jeans

If you would have told me this would ever happen I would have called you mad, and that just proves how bad I am at predicting fashion trends. But it's true, the time has come for you to put away skintight jeans and embrace this season's denim's new shape; the flared jeans! And before you roll your eyes at me, let me tell you why this is a good thing. The flared look, whilst at first will push you out of your comfort zone, trust me when I say they are incredibly flattering and will compliment your existing wardrobe so no need for new additions! Sounded good enough for me to give them a try, so I did!

Skinnies completely changed our relationship with denim and became the go-to jeans in women's wardrobes for almost a decade. However, with several new cuts creeping off the catwalks to choose from, their reign is being challenged and I am very excited. When I say new cuts, I am referring to the 70s inspired most dramatic of flares, the tailored kick crop and the new boyfriend shape. My favourite has the striking flare which in this season is seen in an exaggerated and a bold silhouette, long length and, loose on the thigh and, getting gradually wider. No, I'm not wearing this dramatic style in this look but that's because I went for a pair of toned down flares, almost straight looking, I already had at the back of my wardrobe but you get the idea.

Now, before you get rid of all your skinnies remember they're not going away completely. They're just not cutting edge anymore and instead have become wardrobe staples like the leather skirt, the white tee, the denim jacket, etc. So don't ditch them completely, just try new shapes! With flares, as well as these new denim shapes I've mentioned, they can be just as versatile and potentially smart as skinnies depending on the shade, and I love that quality about them.

Jeans: Matalan (old) // Jacket*: Dezzal (here) // Shoes: Converse (here) // Bag*: Banana Republic (similar here)
Admittedly, the flared look works well with heels or wedges, but I broke the rules and went with a pair of white converses for comfort and a more casual vibe, and needless to say I was very comfortable all day long, not only with my shoe choice but also the denim shape. Did it feel weird wearing something other than a skinny pair of jeans at first? Definitely. I am one big skinny wearer, but being a pear shape I found this cut extremely flattering and cool looking and my verdict is, you should all give flared jeans a chance! You might be pleasantly surprised!

Tell me, what do you think of flared jeans? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties and wishing us all a good week!

xoxo

  6. These jeans you are wearing remind me of a pair of straight leg jeans I had a long time ago. I also had a pair wear the cut was more obviously flared and I loved them. I want to add at least 1 pair to my wardrobe for my revamp.

  12. You know what I like about these, the fact that you can wear them with socks! Haha, honestly, I can't cope with how cold my ankles get at the moment when I try to wear my Converse with skinny jeans. I may just need some flares in my life!

  14. Dear Pam, you look lovely and beautiful as usual, and I loved your jeans, Converses and the jacket, how cute is that? I know skinny jeans are still around, but I never could wear them well and I much prefer flared jeans. So it means that this season I will find some jeans that meet my taste, since for some years most of the styles were skinny! Thanks for showing them! Hope you have a beautiful day!
