Fall 2016 Fashion Trends: Cold Shoulder & Embroidered Denim

As trends tend to do the off-shoulder, which was widely popular in spring and summer, has evolved into different styles. The trend is morphing into cut-out shoulders; one shoulder exposed and bare backs. I reckon the Cold Shoulder trend came about because we weren't ready just yet to say goodbye to exposed shoulders. What stands out for me about this particular tendency compared to its original version is how much more interesting it makes fall outfits. The cold shoulder is the route to sexy, whilst being subtle and is incredibly more versatile than the off-shoulder. Plus, it is said that the shoulder is the only part of a woman's body that doesn't age (let's all believe that), so shoulders exposed are appropriate no matter your age.

Now, let's talk about the Gucci induced Embroidered Denim trend and how Gucci is really excelling it at the moment. Their head designer, Alessandro Michele, is daring, bold and likes to create pieces that create emotion whilst not being exactly rational (their Gucci loafers come into mind). From shoes to handbags, denim jackets and jeans, this season has been all about the embellishments, embroidery, patches, buttons and studs.

Flared, fitted or boyfriend style, this season's denim trend isn't so much about the style of jeans you go for, but rather how embellished they are. It may not be a trend for everyone given it is quite bold, but it sure looks pretty on. Whether you prefer something floral or abstract, embroidery adds a little something extra to the denim styles we already love. And if anything on the high street doesn't make the cut for you (I highly doubt that though given the abundance of pretty pieces in almost every single shop), you can always DIY the trend too with some iron on patches!

Cold Shoulder Jumper: Primark (similar here) // Embroidered Jeans: similar here @ Matalan
Fringe Bag: H&M (similar here) // Patent Boots: New Look (here)
Put together these two trends in one look et voilá, a cool and cosy outfit perfect for my day out in Notting Hill, which itself is a trendy location so what's not to love?! I went for the patent boots I have been wearing on repeat ever since I got them and I am already looking into getting them in a different colour! The fringe bag is my go-to for fall and it gave the getup a 80's vibe alongside these mom jeans I am loving at the minute. Whilst they may not be the most flattering pair of jeans out there especially for a pear-shaped body like mine, they are so comfy and stretchy I was willing to break all fashion rules.

What do you think? Let me know if you're rocking these trends too!
Thanks for reading beauties and have a lovely end of the week!
