S/S 2016 Trends: Chanel Two-Tone Inspired Sling-Backs

I've talked about owning a Chanel bag on the blog before (read here) and according to a new study from Baghunter, an authentic bag currently makes a better investment than real state. We all know how expensive they are, but what people don't realise is that their value has increased more than 70% since 2010, and is set to continue on this up rise. Considering getting on the house ladder in London is extremely difficult don't mind if I do get me a new bag! Now I have the perfect excuse, am I right?! And whilst I am at it, I might as well get me a pair of Chanel Sling-Backs because have you seen how popular they've been this summer?

I don't know about you, but the Gucci loafer trend never really interested me. I personally do not find the shoe design appealing whatsoever and I would much rather spend on other trendy pairs (like a pom pom sandal like I talked about here). The Sling-Back design however is so flattering and feminine, I could barely stop myself from hunting a similar design on the high street. And guess what, I was spoiled for choice! It seems that British high street quickly caught on the trend and with the likes of Zara, Topshop and even New Look offering similar doppelgangers, I went searching.

Even though the authentic Chanel Sling-Backs are flawless and basically a dream, I do have a wedding on the fast approach and that's where my money is currently being burned on. With that in mind, I went after a bargain like one casually does and found me the perfect alternative. Even though this pair I'm styling looks a lot more expensive, this is a Zara offering and let me tell you it is comfy, classy and oh so flattering. Zara captured the essence of this low block heel design, and I find this particular design of theirs slightly different than the original, which is always good as we do not want a complete rip off, but it still looks timeless

Team it up with cropped jeans like I did, with skirts or dresses, and even shorts, and wear it for the remainder of summer as well as right through autumn; these shoes (even though they don't look it) will go with vast majority of your wardrobe and are so comfy you won't want to take them off.

I've said it before when I talked about the Chloé Drew bag (here), and I will say it again: paying a fraction of that hefty designer price tag and keeping things reasonably priced is how I like to preserve my style. Is there anything better than affordable fashion? I think not! And no, I am not saying you shouldn't own a few designer handbags, because even I have some, I'm just saying you don't need the latest or most expensive pieces to be on trend. Exhibit A right here! Thoughts?

Bardot Top: Matalan (here) // Cropped Flares: H&M (here)
Two-Tone Slingbacks: Zara (here) // Wallet Chain Bag*: Banana Republic (here)
To finish off the look I went with this stunning bardot top from the Abbey Clancy top picks of the current Matalan collection and I definitely see myself wearing it a lot in the colder months ahead. This chain bag is one of my recent acquisitions from Banana Republic and you may have seen this name come up quite a bit lately here on the blog, and I can honestly say I am very impressed with all the pieces I received. Their quality is outstanding and despite being a little pricier than the usual high street shop, it is totally worth it.

What do you think of this look? Are you fan of the sling-back design too? Let me know below!
Thanks for reading beauties and happy Thursday!

xoxo

  4. Looking great as always! I see so many gorgeous bardot tops everywhere, but I can never find them in store. While I don`t like buying online, I think that might be my last resort.

P.S. Are all the wedding preparations going well?

  13. Gorgeous outfit hun. I'm sure those shoes would go with a lot because they're nude, which makes them versatile. Also love the fact that the top is from Matalan. That store is a gem!

  15. I think you are so right, dear Pam! Invest your money in your wedding, that will bring you lasting memories that no bag can give, no mater how fancy and lucrative they are - increasing value! I think that affordable fashion is great; just yesterday, I was talking about it to family, saying that I know a blogger (or bloggers) that told me they have not even money to petrol, which is sad. Nevertheless, they try so hard to spread to readers that they are rich and I simply can't understand this behaviour, but alas, not judging, just sharing thoughts. I am very glad that you showed this top, it;s lovely and you look amazing! The shoes are super sweet too! I will confess, the Chanel ones are nice, but today I saw a pair that looks even better, and they are not Chanel :) So, not all what shines is gold :) Hope you have a lovely weekend!

  50. You look so chic and your outfit is perfection babe! I completely agree, a pair of pom pom sandals are so much better than Gucci loafers haha! But your shoes are so gorgeous too. I always find that Zara design the perfect high-street alternatives for designer pieces.
