London's Hottest Rooftop: Pergola On The Roof @Television Centre

When the opportunity of visiting London's Hottest Rooftop Pergola on the Roof arose, I of course jumped at the chance. If you know me you will know that good food, great décor and floral displays are things (amongst many) which rock my boat. I've always wanted to write more lifestyle posts and this came at the perfect time so I hope you enjoy reading this.

As a Friday treat after work, my fiancé and I headed over to what is considered London's hottest rooftop this summer, Pergola on the Roof, for a night of burgers and drinks. Pergola on the Roof is a food court set 170-feet-high conveniently located about 50 metres from Gate 6 of the Television Centre entrance on Wood Lane. If you didn't know (and I did not), the Television Centre used to house the BBC headquarters but now it is being remodelled to accommodate apartments, restaurants, and even a hotel, and whilst constructions are taking place, Pergola on the Roof came about as temporary pop-up food and drinks court offering a rooftop dining experience this summer.

It literally is a two-minute walk from Wood Lane station and at arrival, the queue seemed quite long which was expected given we had probably chosen the busiest night of the week (Friday night and payday!). But to my surprise, we stood in line for only 10 minutes or so and once we made our way up, we were greeted with a vision of the Mediterranean. The arched structure covered by a wooden open-air structure wrapped in evergreen ivy, wisteria and bougainvillaea, set against white-washed walls with murals adorning the wall is as gorgeous as it sounds. It wasn't as busy as I had anticipated and even though most tables were reserved, we had no issue finding some seats.

Made up of 4 heavy hitting London Restaurants and with menus ranging both in variety and price points, this is quite possibly the strongest food line up in West London this summer. The restaurants, I hear you asking, include Rabbit, Salt Yard, Patty & Bun and Lecoq, all of which offer bespoke menus and are located around the central bar. I'm not much of a drinker so I knew the food would the highlight for me and it did not disappoint.

Even though Patty & Bun is a "work week" favourite of mine, we instantly knew that's what we had come for; burgers, chips, and wings sounded like the perfect choices to end what had been an extremely busy week. Philipe went for the Ari Gold Cheeseburger (£7.50) and it honestly looked amazing. He devoured it in 2 minutes or so, so I think he enjoyed it very much. My option was the Smokey Robinson Burger (£8.75) and, the beef patty was cooked to perfection and the Smokey P&B mayo gave it that extra kick. Wanting to try more of the menu we opted for the Winger Winger Chicken Dinner (£5.75) and whilst I enjoyed them Philipe thought they were "too barbecuy", if that is even possible. Our least favourite side was the Rosemary Salted Chips (£2.95) as they had not been freshly fried and were extremely salty.

We had originally wanted to try bits and pieces from the other restaurants too, but by the end of our meal we had no room so we sat a little longer sipping our soft drinks and taking in the beautiful décor.

Overall, we were mostly impressed with Pergola on the Roof and I say mostly because there were a few things that bothered us slightly. Whilst the food options were great, the staff was friendly and the décor was beautiful, I hate the smell of cigarette smoke so I wish Pergola would have created a non-smoking area for us non-smokers to eat without being hit with fumes. Additionally, the bathrooms weren't very clean which is sort of a given the magnitude of the place but still disappointing.

All in all, we had a good time minus the things mentioned above. I would still recommend you checking it out though! It stays open until Sunday 29th August and if you subscribe on their website, you will receive a free drink!

Tell me, have you been yet? If so, let me know what you think below!
Thanks for reading beauties!

  30. I'm surprised that they allowed smoking as most eateries banned smoking these these days, even Malaysia has followed suits. I am an ex smoker but quit in end 2011 and it was one of the best decisions that I ever made.
